SEATTLE—The Utah Valley University women's soccer team wrapped up regular season play with a 2-0 setback to Seattle U on Saturday night at Championship Field in Seattle, Wash.

The loss snaps a five match win streak for the Wolverines. UVU drops to 9-11 overall and wraps up WAC play with a 5-2 record. Seattle U improves to 7-8-3 overall and 3-2-2 in league play. Despite the loss, UVU earned the No. 2 seed and first round bye at next week's WAC Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz.

"Seattle was very organized and disciplined tonight," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay. "Their counter attack was very good. They capitalized on our turnovers. We had a couple of really good chances but at the end of the day, they capitalized and we didn't. We will use this as another learning opportunity as our focus now turns to the WAC Tournament. We're proud of getting a first round by as the No. 2 seed and we'll come back ready and stronger for Friday's match in Phoenix."

Seattle U got on the scoreboard in the 44th minute as SU's Jessie Ray passed the ball ahead on the right side where Leahi Manthei put a foot on it and sent it into the left side of the net to give the Redhawks a 1-0 lead.

Natasha Howe gave Seattle U a 2-0 lead in the 80th minute as she chipped the ball from the left side into the net. Manthei was credited with the assist on the score.

Utah Valley outshot Seattle U 11-10 on the night, including a 6-5 advantage on net. The Wolverines also had eight corner kicks to SU's seven.
Breanna DeWaal led UVU with a match-high four shots, including a match-best two on goal.
Sydney Fitzpatrick,
Tori Smith, and
Breanna McCarter each had two shots with one on goal apiece.

Brooklyn Nielsen led the Wolverines in goal with three saves. She played all 90 minutes in the box.

Utah Valley secured the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in next week's WAC Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. The Wolverines will play in the semifinals of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 3 at 9 p.m. (MT). UVU will play the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 UTRGV and No. 6 and host Grand Canyon.
