Madison Dennison and 14 kills and a .321 hitting percentage from fellow senior
Lexi Thompson, the green team managed to sweep the white squad, 4-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20, 15-9), at Utah Valley University's annual Green & White volleyball exhibition scrimmage on Tuesday evening at Lockhart Arena.
Fellow senior setter
Sierra Starley too had a solid performance for team green, as she recorded a match-high 41 assists, along with seven block assists and a pair of service aces. Junior
Alexis Davies also played well by tallying a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs, while freshman libero
Seren Merrill and redshirt freshman outside hitter
Bailey Nixon led the way from the back row by posting 12 digs apiece.
"It's fun to be able to put the jersey on and to get out in front of your family and friends and perform. I'm very encouraged with what we have and what the girls are doing," head coach
Sam Atoa said. "I'm sure there is a lot of room for us to grow and improve, and we will, but I'm looking forward to having a good year."
As a team, the green squad out-blocked the white team on the night, 17.0-9.0, as well as out-served the home squad, 5-3.
"I really wanted to make sure that we were able to pass the ball well as well as be able to stay in system as much as we could, and I felt like the girls executed pretty well," added Atoa. "We also did a pretty nice job of taking care of our assignments and I was proud with how we were able to come together and have fun tonight."
