WOLVERINES HEAD TO PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Utah Valley University travels to the Pacific Northwest this week for its final non-conference matches of the season. The Wolverines (3-3-0) will face Pac 12 Washington on Thursday at 8 p.m. MT and Gonzaga of the West Coast Conference on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT.

SERIES HISTORY
The Wolverines won the only prior meeting between UVU and Washington with a 2-1 win in the 2016 season opener in Orem. Utah Valley was ranked 24th at the time while the Huskies were No. 20. While ranked No. 19 three weeks later, UVU edged 20th-ranked Gonzaga, 1-0, to run its all-time record against the Bulldogs to 3-0.

MAAS ON THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE
"Washington and Gonzaga are exceptional programs and both matches will be entertaining as we complete our non-conference schedule and prepare to enter WAC play next week," UVU head coach Greg Maas said. "We're coming off of two disappointing and preventable results, but the team's spirit is unwavered, and they're determined to stay on the front-foot this coming weekend in Washington."

LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines saw Sacramento State come from behind to steal a 2-1 win with a pair of second-half goals last Friday. Paul Hoffmeister scored the goal for UVU. Two days later, Utah Valley found itself in a three-nil hole at halftime against No. 10 Omaha. The Wolverines got a goal early in the second half from Connor Salmon, and had a barrage of shots but could not find the back of the net again, falling 3-1. UVU outshot Omaha 19-4 in the match.

ABOUT WASHINGTON
Washington enters the week at 5-2-0 and is coming off of a 4-3 win over Santa Clara on Sunday. Three days earlier, the Huskies shut out Drexel 4-0 and rank 12th in the country in scoring offense, averaging 2.29 goals per game. Handwalla Bwana was named the Pac 12 Player of the Week after a hat trick against Santa Clara. Bwana is the reigning Pac 12 Freshman of the Year. Washington, which is ranked 19th by College Soccer News, faces another WAC school this week in crosstown rival, No. 24 Seattle U.

ABOUT GONZAGA
Gonzaga is 4-3-0 and plays host to 20th-ranked Air Force -- members of the WAC -- on Friday night. Sunday's match ends a string of five straight WAC opponents for the Bulldogs, who lost 2-0 at Seattle U, defeated CSU Bakersfield 4-1, and most recently suffered a 3-0 setback at UNLV. Gonzaga and Washington also met on Sept. 7 in Seattle, with the Huskies winning 3-0.

COMING UP
Utah Valley opens the 2017 WAC regular season campaign next Friday, Sept. 29 against San José State at Clyde Field in Orem. Two days later the Wolverines will play at CSU Bakersfield.
