OPENING TIP
Utah Valley got back on track last week with a 68-56 win over Grand Canyon to take over sole possession of second place in the WAC standings. The Wolverines have won nine of its last 10 games and now open a three-game road stretch in the Emerald City as the team travels to play Seattle U on Saturday at Key Arena. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. (MST).
Akolda Manyang scored all 14 of his points in the second half while two other Wolverines finished in double figures to lead Utah Valley to a 68-56 victory over Grand Canyon to snap a six-game winless streak against the Antelopes on Jan. 27 at the UCCU Center. Manyang's 14 points on a perfect 6-of-6 mark from the charity stripe led the Wolverines in the scoring column, and he pitched in six rebounds and two blocks.
Conner Toolson finished the game with 12 points while hitting a pair of threes and came away with three steals on the defensive end. Ogbe was the final Wolverine in double figures with 10 points for the game.
Utah Valley is tied for the 10th-longest current home win streak in the nation at 10 games. The Wolverines are tied with four other schools with 10-game home win streaks. Cincinnati holds the nation's longest current home win streak at 37 games, followed by Purdue and Vermont at 20 games.
UVU has six of its players averaging double figures, including all five of its starters.
Kenneth Ogbe leads the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game.
Akolda Manyang ranks second on the team at 13.5 points per game.
Conner Toolson is third at 12.1 points a contest.
Jake Toolson averages 11.6 points, followed by
Brandon Randolph at 10.8 and
Jerrelle DeBerry off the bench at 10.4.

Zach Nelson is closing in on the 1,000-point mark. Nelson currently has 949 points and is just 51 points shy of reaching the milestone. Nelson will become just the seventh player in UVU history to reach the mark. Nelson will become the first player in UVU history to score 1,000 points, pull down 500 or more rebounds and dish out 200 or more assists.

Utah Valley has played five teams that won their conference tournaments last season and made trips to the NCAA Tournament, including Kentucky (SEC Tournament), Duke (ACC Tournament), UC Davis (Big West Tournament), North Dakota (Big Sky Tournament), and New Mexico State (WAC Tournament). The Wolverines went 2-3 with wins over UC Davis and North Dakota.
UVU opened the season with what might just be the toughest 24 hours ever played in college basketball history as the Wolverines took on No. 4/5 Kentucky and No. 1 Duke on back-to-back nights to open the season. The Wolverines dropped a 73-63 decision at Kentucky before falling 99-69 at Duke. UVU has since won 15 of 18 games since the loss at Duke.

Seattle U enters Saturday's game with a 15-8 overall record and a 4-2 league mark. SU an impressive 13-2 record at home this season with its only losses coming to California and Grand Canyon. Since opening WAC play with a loss at home to Grand Canyon, Seattle U has won four of its last five games, including a 59-55 win over CSU Bakersfield last week at Key Arena. SU's only other WAC loss was at New Mexico State. Junior center Aaron Menzies led the Redhawks with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks in the win over CSUB. Graduate guard Jordan Hill and sophomore guard Matej Kavas were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Seattle U has all five of its starters averaging double figures led by Kavas at 17.0 points per game. Menzies leads the team on the boards, pulling down 8.4 rebounds a game. The Redhawks rank second in the WAC behind UVU in scoring offense at 78.4 points per game. SU allows opponents a 73.0 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SEATTLE U
Utah Valley and Seattle U meet up on the basketball hardwood for the 16th time on Saturday night. The Redhawks hold an all-time 8-7 advantage in the series. Utah Valley has won two straight over Seattle U, including a 65-53 win in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas last season. The two teams split the regular season two-game series last season with each team winning on its home floor. Seattle U holds an all-time 5-2 advantage over the Wolverines at home. Seattle U has won four of the last six games in the series.
