OREM—Utah Valley University men's basketball head coach
Mark Pope announced on Thursday that American Fork High School product Trey Stewart has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Wolverines.
Â
"We are ecstatic about the signing of Trey," said Pope. "He comes from a basketball family where his dad is a former player and coach for the Wolverines. Trey is a big time athlete with great size and length that will allow him to be one of the best on ball defenders we've ever had here at UVU. We love Trey's court vision and the way he can finish plays above the rim. We believe he will be a great player and I can't wait to coach him."
Â
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game during his junior season last year at American Fork High School. Stewart earned both all-region and all-state honors for his play last season.
Â
The UVU signee is no stranger to UVU basketball as his father (Ray) was an all-region and all-conference standout at UVU during the 1989-90 season. Ray also served as an assistant coach at UVU for one season.
Â
Stewart is set to begin his senior season at AFHS this year. He plans on serving an LDS Church Mission before joining Utah Valley for the 2021-22 season.
