OPENING TIP

• Utah Valley wraps up its stretch of six straight home games to open the 2018-19 season on Thursday at 11 a.m. MT against in-state foe BYU in the UCCU Crosstown Clash.
• The Wolverines are looking to start 5-1 for the first time since the 2015-16 season when UVU began 6-1.
• Junior Jordan Holland established a new career high with 21 points last week in a win over Arizona Christian. She leads the team with an average of 14.2 points per game. 
• Freshman Eve Braslis is averaging 13.6 ppg and a team-high 7.4 rebounds while hitting a WAC-best 63 percent from the field. In addition to Braslis, freshman Maria Carvalho leads the WAC in assists (6.0). 
• Heading into this week's action, UVU leads the WAC in scoring offense (75.0), free throw percentage (.793), assists (17.8) and steals (12.6). 
   

ABOUT THE COUGARS
BYU saw its four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday at Southern Utah, a 67-64 defeat to the T-Birds in Cedar City. Shaylee Gonzales leads the team with 16.0 points per game and has come off the bench each game so far this season. BYU leads the all-time series 8-0.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Utah Valley moved to 4-1 with a 76-68 win over 22nd-ranked (NAIA) Arizona Christian the day before Thanksgiving last week. Jordan Holland scored her career-high 21 on 10-for-17 from the field and the Wolverines turned the ball over a season-best 13 times. 

UP NEXT
The Wolverines will play their first road game on Saturday at Utah at 5:30 p.m. MT. That starts a string of four straight road contests. UVU will play at Southern Utah next Tuesday, and at Idaho State next Thursday, Dec. 6.
