MacDougall named WAC Player of the Week

DENVER—Utah Valley graduate forward Connor MacDougall has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 17-23. It marks the first WAC honor of MacDougall's career.

MaDougall, from Tempe, Ariz., helped lead the Wolverines to a perfect 2-0 record last week with wins over Idaho State and Sam Houston State. The two wins extended UVU's home win streak to 20 games—the third-best mark in the nation.

The graduate forward scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in an 88-77 win over Idaho State. He scored his 28 points on a perfect night from the field as he connected on 12-of-12 shots from the field. The 12-for-12 outing is the best shooting performance in UVU history. He also knocked down 4-of-5 shots from the charity stripe.

MacDougall also scored 13 points with six rebounds and a career-high four assists in an 85-79 win over Sam Houston State.  He knocked down 5-of-6 shots from the field and connected on 3-of-5 shots from the free throw line.

Over his two games last week, MacDougall averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game. He made 17-of-18 shots from the field for an impressive 94.4 percent clip. He also made 7-of-10 free throws on the week.

Utah Valley continues play on Dec. 29 at Fresno State. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. MT
