UVU travels to play Fresno State on Saturday

UTAH VALLEY WRAPS UP NON-CONFERENCE PLAY AT FRESNO STATE ON SATURDAY
Utah Valley will wrap up non-conference play on Saturday in the Golden State as the Wolverines travel to play Fresno State. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. MST

Utah Valley has the third-longest active home win streak in the nation at 20 games. Houston holds the nation's longest active home win streak at 25 games, followed by Charleston (22), Utah Valley (20), and Montana (19).

Utah Valley has won nine of its last 10 games, including four straight. The Wolverines recently picked up their first-ever win in Ogden in a win at Weber State. UVU then followed it up with wins at home over Idaho State and Sam Houston State.  The lone setback over its last 10 games was an 80-69 setback at Pac-12 foe Arizona on Dec. 8.

Connor MacDougall was named the WAC Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in a pair of home wins last week. MacDougall scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in an 88-77 win over Idaho State. He scored his 28 points on a perfect night from the field as he connected on 12-of-12 shots from the field. The 12-for-12 outing is the best shooting performance in UVU history. He also knocked down 4-of-5 shots from the charity stripe. He also scored 13 points with six rebounds and a career-high four assists in an 85-79 win over Sam Houston State.  He knocked down 5-of-6 shots from the field and connected on 3-of-5 shots from the free throw line.

Jake Toolson leads Utah Valley in scoring at 16.0 points per game, followed closely behind by Conner Toolson at 14.6 points a contest. The Toolson duo has scored nearly 40 percent of UVU's points this season. Jake has been impressive from the floor, shooting 58.1 percent (79-of-136), including a team-best 50 percent (28-of-56) clip from three-point range. Baylee Steele leads UVU on the boards, pulling down 7.5 rebounds a game, while TJ Washington leads the team in assists at 4.3 a game.

Utah Valley ranks in the top-50 in six statistical team categories and three individual category. The Wolverines rank 20th in the nation in total rebounds with 522. The team also ranks 32nd nationally total assists with 208. UVU also ranks 39th in the country in defensive rebounds per game (28.64) and 42nd in field goal percentage (48.5). The Wolverines are 44th in three-point field goal percentage (38.4) and 46th in threes made (116). Individually, Jake Toolson holds the highest national ranking as he is 38th in total minutes at 459:02. Conner Toolson ranks 47th in steals with 25, while Jake Toolson ranks 47th in field-goal percentage (58.1).

BROADCAST INFORMATION
Saturday's game at Fresno State will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network (TheMW.com/Watch). Paul Loeffler and Marc Q. Jones will be on the call. The game will also be broadcast over the radio waves as Jim McCulloch enters his ninth season as the radio play-by-play personality. Jason Erickson will be handling the color commentary duties on the radio. The radio broadcast will be aired live on ESPN 960AM radio. ABOUT FRESNO STATE
Fresno State enters Saturday's game with a 9-2 overall record under first-year head coach Justin Hutson. The Bulldogs have won seven straight games. The team's last loss was a 78-76 loss to Miami on Nov. 23 at the Wooden Legacy Tournament in Fullerton. Fresno State's only other loss was a 77-69 setback at No. 21 TCU on Nov. 15. Fresno State is in the middle of a historic seven-game home stand from Nov. 28 through Dec. 29, which will be a record for the Save Mart Center and the program's longest overall since a 12-game home stand during the 1954-55 season. Redshirt senior guard Braxton Huggins leads the team in scoring at 18.7 points per game. Senior guard Deshon Taylor follows closely behind at 18.0 points a contest. Junior forward Nate Grimes leads the Bulldogs on the boards at 7.8 rebounds per game. As a team, Fresno State averages 81.9 points per game while limiting opponents to a 66.8 points per game average. The team averages nearly 10 three-point field goals per game.

SERIES HISTORY VS. FRESNO STATE, MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE
Utah Valley and Fresno State will meet up on the basketball hardwood for the first time on Saturday night. The Wolverines are 0-9 all-time against teams from the Mountain West Conference.

MACDOUGALL NAMED WAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Connor MacDougall was been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 17-23. It marks the first WAC honor of MacDougall's career.
 
MaDougall, from Tempe, Ariz., helped lead the Wolverines to a perfect 2-0 record last week with wins over Idaho State and Sam Houston State. The two wins extended UVU's home win streak to 20 games—the third-best mark in the nation.
 
The graduate forward scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in an 88-77 win over Idaho State. Over his two games last week, MacDougall averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game. He made 17-of-18 shots from the field for an impressive 94.4 percent clip. He also made 7-of-10 free throws on the week.

CONNER TOOLSON BECOMES EIGHTH PLAYER IN UVU HISTORY TO SCORE 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Conner Toolson knocked down a shot from long range with 14:38 remaining in the second half against Sam Houston State on Dec. 22 to lift his career point total to 1,002 points as he became just the eighth player in UVU history to score 1,000 career points. Toolson scored 18 points on the night to up his career total to 1,007.

JAKE TOOLSON'S PERFECT NIGHT LEADS UVU TO 85-79 WIN OVER SAM HOUSTON STATE
Jake Toolson scored 20 points on a perfect shooting night and Conner Toolson added 18, including his 1,000th point to lead Utah Valley to its 20th straight win at home in an 85-79 win over Sam Houston State on Dec. 22 at the UCCU Center.

Both teams played closely in the first half with neither squad leading by more than four points until UVU used an 8-2 run to take a six-point, 30-24, lead with five minutes remaining. Sam Houston State outscored UVU 7-6 over the final five minutes as the Wolverines took a 36-31 lead into the break.
 
The Bearkats opened the second half on a 7-1 lead to take just their second lead of the game, 40-37. Jake Toolson stopped the run with back-to-back three-point buckets to give UVU the lead, 43-42, with 16:30 to play.  With UVU leading 63-61, SHSU was charged with a flagrant one foul, sending Baylee Steele to the free throw line. Steele knocked down both free throws before TJ Washington scored on the ensuing position to give UVU a 67-61 lead with 6:43 to go. Trailing 74-70 with 3:34 to play, SHSU's Bowie connected on a four-point play to tie the game, 74-74. UVU then outscored the Bearkats 11-5 over the final 3:30 to secure the 85-79 win.

He was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Conner Toolson knocked down a shot from long range at the 14:38 minute of the second half to lift his career point total to 1,002 points, becoming just the eighth player in UVU history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Toolson scored 18 points on the night to up his career total to 1,007.
 
Three other Wolverines were in double figures, including Ben Nakwaasah (14), Connor MacDougall (13), and Isaiah White (11). Nakwaasah also pulled down a team-high six rebounds and dished out four assists with two steals
 
MACDOUGALL RECORDS BEST SINGLE-GAME SHOOTING PERFORMANCE IN UVU HISTORY, 2ND BEST MARK IN THE NATION THIS SEASON.... JAKE TOOLSON TIES TOP FG % MARK
Connor MacDougall had the best single game shooting performance  in UVU history against Idaho State on Dec. 19 as he knocked down a perfect 12-of-12 shots from the floor. The 12-for-12 shooting overtakes Mitch Bruneel and Jake Toolson who previously held the field goal mark in an 8-for-8 performances. MacDougall's mark is the second-best shooting performance in the country behind only Levi Bradley of Northern Illinois, who made a perfect 13-of-13 shots against Oakland on Nov. 25. MacDougall's perfect night ties him for the best single-game field goal percentage mark in UVU history with Bruneel and Toolson.

UVU RECORDS THIRD-BEST THREE-POINT SHOOTING PERFORMANCE IN SCHOOL HISTORY -- 14TH-BEST SINGLE-GAME PERFORMANCE IN NATION THIS SEASON
Utah Valley connected on 62.5 percent of its threes in a 98-78 win at Northern Arizona on Dec. 8 in Flagstaff. The Wolverines knocked down 15-of-24 shots from beyond the arc. The 62.5 percent shooting is the third-best three-point shooting percentage in school history and the 14th-best three-point shooting performance in the nation this season. The three-point shooting performance at NAU is tied for the 14th-best shooting percentage mark in the nation this season. UVU shot 66.7 percent twice in wins over Haskell (1/4/11) and against UTRGV (3/13/14). The 15 threes is tied for the fourth-best total in UVU history. The Wolverines knocked down a school-record 18 threes in a win at BYU (11/26/16) two seasons ago.

CONNER TOOLSON MOVES UP TO SECOND ON CAREER ASSISTS CHART, FOURTH ON CAREER THREES LIST
Conner Toolson is now all alone in second on the all-time UVU steals list with 112 take aways. He is now just 44 steals away from tying Holton Hunsaker (2010-14) for the top spot on the steals chart. He ranks fourth on the made threes list with 163 and is just one three away from tying Isiah Williams (2010-12) for third on that chart.

UVU TIED FOR THE FOURTH-LONGEST ACTIVE HOME WIN STREAK IN THE NATION, LONGEST STREAK IN UVU HISTORY
Utah Valley has won a school-record 20 straight games at home dating back to last season. The last loss at home was an 85-58 setback to BYU on Nov. 29, 2018. Since that time the Wolverines have won 20 straight at the UCCU Center. The Wolverines won a school-record 16 games at home last season, finishing the 2017-18 campaign with a school-record 16-1 record at home, surpassing the previous record of 14-1 set by the 2006-07 team. Utah Valley has the third-longest active home win streak in the nation at 20 games behind Houston (25) and Charleston (22).  The previous UVU home win streak record was 17 games, which was set from the 2004-05 season to the 2005-06 season.
