UVU OPENS WAC PLAY AT HOUSTON BAPTIST
Utah Valley University men's soccer opens the 2018 WAC schedule at Houston Baptist on Saturday. Gametime is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT with storms in the forecast that could affect both location and start time. The Wolverines (3-4-0) are 22-12-6 all-time in Western Athletic Conference play, and were the 2016 regular season champions.  

"Opening weekend in the WAC is always exciting. There's incredible parity in the conference and getting started on the front foot is paramount," UVU head coach Greg Maas said. "This team's focus and determination is impressive, and their commitment to one another in pursuit of another WAC Championship for Utah Valley begins on the road with a difficult match in Houston." 

LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of 13th-ranked and unbeaten UC Davis on Tuesday. The Aggies scored early in the second half and held off a ferocious charge in the waning minutes of the contest. UVU had appeared to tied the match in the 87th minute on an Alec Felix goal, but the Wolverines were whistled offside, negating the potential equalizer. 

ABOUT HOUSTON BAPTIST
Houston Baptist is 2-2-2 overall and is unbeaten in three games (1-0-2) at home. The Huskies, who were picked to finish 11th in the preseason coaches poll, are one of five affiliate members of the WAC in men's soccer. 

HBU toppled SMU on the road in Dallas last Friday, 3-1, behind two first-half goals from Nick Coburn. Gianluca Natera leads the team with four goals.

SERIES HISTORY
UVU owns a 3-1 series advantage over Houston Baptist with both teams defending their own pitch successfully. The Wolverines have recorded three shutouts on Clyde Field in Orem while the Huskies own a 2-1 win in Houston during the 2015 season.

UP NEXT
The Wolverines return home next week for two conference home games against UTRGV (Sept. 27) and Incarnate Word (Sept. 29). It's Homecoming Week at UVU with Saturday night set for the 2018 homecoming game.
