Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Weber State defeats Utah Valley at Clyde Field, 1-0

OREM—Despite outshooting the Wildcats 18-7 on the night, Weber State snapped Utah Valley's five-match home-unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win over the Wolverines on Tuesday night at Clyde Field.

With the loss, Utah Valley falls to 1-4-1 overall on the season, while WSU picks up its first win of the season to improve to 1-2-1.

"It's a difficult one to swallow," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay. "We were a step behind and late to some things in the first half so we were reacting instead of anticipating. I thought we turned it around in the second half and created enough chances to win the game. I thought we did enough to get a result tonight but unfortunately it just wasn't in the cards for us. I'm not disappointed in our performance, I'm disappointed with what it says on the scoreboard."

Weber State's Mylee Broad scored the lone goal of the match after receiving the ball at the top of the box and shooting it into the back of the net for the score in the 20th minute. Taylor Scadlock and Olivia Barton were each credited with assists on the score.

Utah Valley has numerous opportunities in the second half as the Wolverines outshot the Wildcats, 12-1. UVU was able to get the ball in the box for numerous shots on goal but just could not get the ball over the line for the score. UVU outshot WSU 18-7 on the night, including a 6-2 advantage on goal. UVU had four corner kicks to WSU's three.

Sadie Brockbank led the Wolverines with a match-high five shots, including one on goal. Breanna McCarter and Whitney Paskins each tallied three shots, while Amber Tripp registered two.

Sarah Davis played all 90 minutes in goal. The senior keeper tallied one save on the night.

UVU not heads back out on the road to play in the Nike Portland Invitational in Portland, Oregon. The Wolverines will take on tournament host Portland on Sept. 7 before playing Washington on Sept. 9.
