UVU men's basketball hosts Latino Night on Wednesday night

OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University basketball team is proud to partner with the UVU Latino Initiative to host the first Latino Night at the team's game against California Baptist on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the UCCU Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (MST)

The Latino Night festivities will include cultural performances prior to the game and during halftime. A mariachi band will be performing prior to the game at the southeast entrance of the UCCU Center.  Los Wolverines t-shirts will be thrown out to the crowd during the game. The Latino Initiative is expecting more than 1,900 guests in attendance.

The Latino Initiative aims to increase educational and career opportunities for Latino students and their families in their local communities. By networking with community partners, engaging parents and students along the PK-16 educational pathway, and providing culturally sensitive and relevant educational information, UVU is committed to improving services and informing policy decisions concerning access to higher education for the Latino population.

The Latino student enrollment at UVU for fall 2019 is at 4,576 or 11.5 percent of the student body population.

Utah Valley holds a 15-7 overall record and a 4-3 mark in WAC play this season. The team most recently swept its conference road trip to Kansas City and Chicago State. The Wolverines return home to the UCCU Center on Wednesday night to host California Baptist. The Wolverines have won 24 of their last 26 games at the UCCU Center.
