OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley volleyball team will finish out the regular-season slate of home games against CSU Bakersfield on October 31, 6pm MT and then against Grand Canyon on November 2 at 1pm MT.
UVU returns to Orem after a pair of contests against WAC's No. 1 standing New Mexico State, followed by a match versus UT Rio Grande Valley. The Wolverines dropped both games and moved to an even 5-5 conference record.
Utah Valley and CSU Bakersfield met earlier in the season (Oct. 3) where the Wolverines swept the Roadrunners in three sets. UVU then met GCU and took a 3-1 victory over the Lopes on October 7.
CSUB has marked an 8-14 overall record with a 3-7 WAC record for a .300% winning average on the season. CSU Bakersfield is averaging 11.9 kills per set for a .168% attack average on 11.2 assists per set, 14.7 digs per set and 2.1 blocks per set. The Wolverines and Roadrunners have met 14 times for a 15-9 all-time record since 2007.
The Lopes sit on a 8-2 conference record, with UVU being one of their only two losses, and a 18-4 overall record with a .800% winning average for 2019. Grand Canyon is averaging 12.7 kills per set to tally a .245% attack percentage on 11.7 assists per set, 15.6 digs per set and 2.3 blocks per set. UVU and GCU have met 13 times, with the Wolverines holding a perfect 13-0 record over the Lopes all-time since 2013.
A handful of Wolverines have collected conference tops, including outside hitter
Kazna Tarawhiti, senior middleblocker
Makaila Jarema and junior libero
Seren Merrill. Tarawhiti holds a season-long standing at the top of the WAC in attacks per set, averaging 3.78 and has totaled 299 kills so far on the season. Jarema also claims a No. 1 spot in the conference with 1.57 blocks per set with 74 blocks total. Merrill has also counted herself in the top 5 all season long in digs per set with 4.13 on 343 digs overall.
