OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley volleyball team prepares to host UMKC and Cal Baptist this week on the heels of a three-game winning streak over WAC competition UTRGV, CSUB and GCU. UVU will face UMKC on October 10 at 11am MT, followed by a matchup against CBU on October 12 at 1pm MT.
The Wolverines currently sit on a 3-1 conference record for a three-way tie for second place in the WAC standings, alongside UMKC and GCU. UVU is averaging 12.1 kills per set for a .179% attack average, 11.4 assists per set, 14.4 digs per set and 2.3 blocks per set.
UMKC has posted a 3-1 conference record with a 7-7 overall record so far in the 2019 season. The Roos are averaging 13.2 kills per set for a .262% attack average, 12.3 assists per set, 14.5 digs per set and 1.8 blocks per set. Utah Valley and Kansas City have met 13 times since 2013 for an 8-5 overall record.
Cal Baptist, who is 1-3 in conference play and 7-10 overall, is averaging 9.6 kills per set for a .197% attack average, 8.9 assists per set, 11.5 digs per set and 1.1 blocks per set. Utah Valley and Cal Baptist have only met twice since CBU entered the WAC for a 1-1 tied record.
Jasmine Niutupuivaha tops the Wolverines with 4 solo blocks and 51 assisted blocks for 55 total blocks and is hitting a .296% average with 97 total kills. Teammate Kazna Tarawhiti tops both UVU and the WAC in kills per set (3.93) and 212 total kills and has tallied six double-doubles in the season.
