Utah Valley hosts Ottawa on Tuesday night at UCCU Center

UTAH VALLEY HOSTS OTTAWA ON TUESDAY NIGHT AT UCCU CENTER
Utah Valley looks for its eighth-straight win at the UCCU Center as the team returns to Orem on Tuesday night to take on Ottawa, an NAIA team from Surprise, Arizona. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Brandon Averette scored a team-high 17 points and Trey Woodbury added 12 to lead Utah Valley in a 74-62 loss at Denver on Saturday afternoon in the team's first road game of the season at  Magness Arena in the Mile High City. Isaiah White, who got in early foul trouble, scored nine points in 23 minutes of play. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. Jamison Overton also scored nine points, while Casdon Jardine added eight.

As of Nov. 11, Utah Valley currently holds the 13th-longest active home win streak in the nation at seven games. The Wolverines will look to extend their win streak against Ottawa in the team's next home game on Tuesday night. Tennessee holds the nation's longest active home win streak at 27 games.

Mark Madsen enters his first season as the head coach of the Wolverines. The two-time NBA champion, former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach, and former Stanford University basketball star makes his debut season as a head coach. He is just the third head coach in UVU's Division I history. Madsen takes over the Utah Valley program after serving the past six seasons as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a two-time NBA champion as a player with the Lakers (2001 and 2002), and he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves for six seasons.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
Tuesday night's game against Ottawa will be broadcast live on UVUtv and the WAC Digital Network. Brandon Crow will be handling the play-by-play duties, while former UVU player Holton Hunsaker will be on the color commentary. The WAC Digital Network is available at WACdigitalNetwork.com. The network is also available on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Roku TV. UVU will also send the feed out on its YouTube channel. KSL TV will also stream the game on the KSL TV app. The game will also be broadcast over the radio waves as Jim McCulloch enters his 10th season as the Voice of the Wolverines. Josh Kallunki will be handling the color commentary duties on the radio. The radio broadcast will be aired live on ESPN 960AM radio. A live stream of the radio broadcast will also be available at ESPN960Sports.com.

ABOUT OTTAWA (AZ)
Ottawa is an NAIA team located in Surprise, Arizona. The program is just in its third year. In its first two seasons of the program's history, the Spirit played in a local high school gym. This season, Ottawa officially opened its brand new Faith Arena on its campus. The team is affiliated with the Golden State Athletic Conference. The Spirit have opened the season with a 2-1 record after picking up wins over SAGU American Indian College (104-69) and Embry-Riddle (79-76) last week. Ottawa opened the season with a 96-94 setback at Benedictine Mesa on Nov. 2. Senior forward Dimetres Moore scored 24 points with 10 rebounds and a school-record nine steals in the team's 79-76 win over Embry-Riddle in the team's first-ever game at its new arena on Saturday. Moore leads the team in scoring through three games at 23.3 points per game. Senior forward Shazier Lawson is averaging 18.7 points a game, while senior guard Brian Carey and junior guard Marcus Williams also average double figures at 13.3 and 12.7 points per game. As a team, OUAZ averages 92.3 points per game while limiting opponents to an 80.3 points per game average.

SERIES HISTORY VS. OTTAWA
Tuesday night's matchup between Utah Valley and Ottawa will be the first time the two teams have met on the basketball hardwood. It will mark the 60th time that the Wolverines have taken on a Non Division I opponent. UVU holds an all-time 59-0 mark against non Division I opponents in its history.

UTAH VALLEY FALLS AT DENVER, 74-62
Brandon Averette scored a team-high 17 points and Trey Woodbury added 12 to lead Utah Valley in a 74-62 loss at Denver on Saturday afternoon in the team's first road game of the season at  Magness Arena in the Mile High City.
 
Averette scored his 17 points on a 6-of-10 clip from the floor, including a 2-of-3 mark from long range. He also knocked down 3-of-4 shots at the free throw line and tallied one assists and a steal. Woodbury scored his 12 points on 5-of-10 shots from the field. He pulled down six rebounds with one steal.
 
Isaiah White, who got in early foul trouble, scored nine points in 23 minutes of play. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. Overton also scored nine points, while Casdon Jardine added eight.
 
UVU shot 43 percent from the floor compared to Denver's 48 percent mark. The Wolverines hit 22 percent of their threes (5-of-23) while the Pioneers connected on a 58 percent clip (7-of-12). The Wolverines outrebounded DU 37-29 on the day.

WHITE'S CAREER NIGHT LEADS UVU TO 72-55 WIN OVER WESTMINSTER IN SEASON OPENER
Isaiah White scored a career-high 25 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds for his first career double-double to lead Utah Valley to a season-opening 72-55 win over Westminster on Tuesday night at the UCCU Center. The win marked the first official game and victory for the Wolverines under first-year head coach Mark Madsen.
 
White scored his 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field, including three shots from long range. He also knocked down 4-of-5 free throws. White pulled down 13 rebounds to go along with three assists and a steal.
 
Averette was also in double figures with 16 points, connecting on 7-of-12 shots from the field. The junior guard also pulled down five rebounds with four assists and a steal. Trey Woodbury scored seven points, while Havsa and Casdon Jardine each had five.
 
Emmanuel Olojakpoke led the Wolverines with a game-high five blocks, which ranks 10th on UVU's all-time single game record list. He also had eight rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
 
As a team, UVU recorded a 42 percent clip from the field while limiting Westminster to a 36 percent mark. UVU outrebounded the Griffins 46-34. UVU got 40 points in the paint to Westminster's 22.

UVU HOLDS NATIONS'S 13TH-BEST ACTIVE HOME WIN STREAK IN THE NATION
As of Nov. 11, Utah Valley currently holds the 13th-longest active home win streak in the nation at seven games. The Wolverines will look to extend their win streak against Ottawa in the team's next home game on Tuesday night. Tennessee holds the nation's longest active home win streak at 27 games.
    
BLOCK PARTY

Utah Valley's 11 blocks in its 72-55 win over Westminster is the second-most blocks in a single game in UVU history. Brandon Morley and Emmanuel Olojakpoke each had five blocks, which ranks 10th on the UVU individual single game record charts. The 11 blocks are the most blocks in a single game since UVU recorded 11 blocks in a win over Chicago State on Jan. 12, 2017. The all-time UVU single game record for blocks is 12 set by the 2012-13 team in a win over NJIT on Jan. 5, 2013.

UTAH VALLEY HAS WON 32 OF ITS LAST 34 GAMES AT HOME
Utah Valley won a school-record 22 straight games at home dating from a win over UTSA on Nov. 29, 2017 to a win over UTRGV on Jan. 17, 2019.  The previous UVU home win streak record was 17 games, which was set from the 2004-05 season to the 2005-06 season. UVU holds an impressive 32-2 (94.1 percent) record at home since a win over Seattle U on March 4, 2017. Utah Valley holds an all-time 182-47 (79.5 percent) record in 13 seasons at the UCCU Center. The Wolverines are averaging 13.7 wins a season on their home hardwood. UVU finished the 2018-19 season with a school-record 16-1 mark. The team went 14-1 at home during the 2017-18 season. UVU is a perfect 1-0 at home this season.
