OREM, Utah – Utah Valley's volleyball team looks to begin the final leg of regular season competition as the Wolverines will face-off against the Seattle U Redhawks, November 14 at 7pm MT continued by a contest at California Baptist, November 16 at 2pm MT.
Utah Valley is looking to pick up these last two road matches as they dropped a five-set contest at Chicago State and at UMKC this last week. The Wolverines are sitting on a 6-8 WAC record and are tied with upcoming opponent Cal Baptist for the No. 5 spot in conference standings.
As a team, UVU averages a .190 attack percentage with 11.9 kills per set, tallies 11.2 assists per set, 13.9 digs per set and 2.5 blocks per set. Utah Valley still places three Wolverines in the top five of the conference in their respective events.
Kazna Tarawhiti has remained in the top two places in the WAC in kills per set (3.65) followed by
Makaila Jarema who holds a four-week standing in No. 1 in blocks per set at 1.59, and libero
Seren Merrill who sits in the top five in digs per set with 4.16.
Seattle U has posted a 3-11 conference record with a 12-16 overall record so far in the 2019 season. The Redhawks are averaging 11.9 kills per set for a .172% attack average, 11.2 assists per set, 13.6 digs per set and 2.1 blocks per set. Utah Valley and Seattle U have met 16 times since 2008 for a 10-6 overall record, with the Wolverines claiming a victory in the most recent appearance, 3-0 in October.
Cal Baptist, who is 6-8 in conference play and 12-15 overall, is averaging 12.2 kills per set for a .204% attack average, 11.2 assists per set, 14.3 digs per set and 1.5 blocks per set. UVU and CBU have met only three times since the Lancers entered the WAC in 2018 for a 1-2 overall record, and Cal Baptist winning the most recent matchup in October, 2-3.
