UVU continues road play at Colorado State on Sunday

UTAH VALLEY WRAPS UP ROAD SWING AT COLORADO STATE ON SUNDAY
Utah Valley will play its fifth road game in its last six contests as the team travels to Fort Collins, Colorado for a first-ever matchup against Colorado State on Sunday afternoon at Moby Arena. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. (MT)

Utah Valley closed out the BBN Showcase with a tough 64-61 loss against Mount St. Mary's on the road on Nov. 26 in Maryland. Casdon Jardine led the Wolverines with a career-high 25 points on 5-of-11 from deep to go along with a team-leading 11 rebounds. TJ Washington was the other Wolverine in double figures with 18 points. Cavit Ege Havsa led the UVU with four assists and Emmanuel Olojakpoke matched a career-high with five blocks.

The Wolverines are playing their sixth road game of the season on Sunday afternoon at Colorado State. The Wolverines have played just three home games. UVU has already traveled an estimated 9,500 miles in just 23 days.

As of Nov. 28, Utah Valley ranks second in the nation in blocks with 51. The Wolverines also rank 13th nationally in blocks per game at 6.4 a contest. Individually, Emmanuel Olojakpoke is fifth nationally with 26 blocks. He also ranks 11th in blocks per game at 3.25.

With its loss to Lamar at the UCCU Center last week, Utah Valley's home win streak came to an end at eight games. The eight-game home win streak was the nation's 11th-longest home win streak in the nation. UVU has won 33 of its last 36 games at home.

Utah Valley senior guard TJ Washington has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 18-24. The award is his first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor. Washington averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last week. He opened the week with a then career-high 22 points as he led Utah Valley's comeback from 16 points down at No. 9 Kentucky to cut the lead to just one point, 67-68, with 3:26 to go before eventually falling 74-68. Washington also added five rebounds and five assists against the Wildcats. He then scored 10 points with three rebounds and two assists in a loss to Lamar last Thursday. He capped the week by scoring a career-high 26 points in a 68-62 road win at North Dakota State in the Summit League/WAC Challenge. He also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds in the victory.

Mark Madsen enters his first season as the head coach of the Wolverines. The two-time NBA champion, former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach, and former Stanford University basketball star makes his debut season as a head coach. He is just the third head coach in UVU's Division I history. Madsen takes over the Utah Valley program after serving the past six seasons as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a two-time NBA champion as a player with the Lakers (2001 and 2002), and he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves for six seasons.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
Sunday afternoon's game at Colorado State will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network, which is available at www.TheMW.com/Watch. The game will also be broadcast over the radio waves as Jim McCulloch enters his 10th season as the Voice of the Wolverines. Jason Erickson will be handling the color commentary duties on the radio. ABOUT COLORADO STATE
Colorado State enters Sunday's game with a 5-3 overall record. The team recently finished 2-1 at the Cayman Islands Classic. The Rams dropped a 78-70 decision in overtime in the opener before picking up two straight with wins over Loyola Chicago and Washington State. Colorado State is 2-1 at home this season with wins over Denver and Omaha, and a loss to Arkansas State. Redshirt senior forward/center Nico Carvacho leads two other Rams in double figure scoring at 14.0 points a game. Freshman guard Isaiah Stevens averages 12.6 points a game while sophomore forward Adam Thistlewood scores 11.5 points a contest. Carvacho also leads the team on the boards, pulling down 9.6 rebounds a game. As a team, CSU is averaging 71.4 points a game, while allowing opponents a 71.0 points per game average. The Rams are shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from long range. The team averages 7.5 three-pointers a game.

SERIES HISTORY VS. COLORADO STATE, MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE
Sunday's game at Colorado State will mark the first time the two schools have met on the basketball hardwood. The game will mark the 11th time that the Wolverines have taken on a team from the Mountain West Conference. UVU holds an all-time 1-9 record against teams from the league. The Wolverines picked up their first-ever win over a MWC team last season, knocking off Fresno State, 64-60, at the Save Mart Center on Dec. 29, 2018.

ROAD WARRIORS
The Wolverines are playing their sixth road game of the season on Sunday afternoon at Colorado State. The Wolverines have played just three home games. UVU has already traveled an estimated 9,500 miles in just 23 days with stops in Denver, Alabama, Kentucky, North Dakota, and Maryland. The Wolverines will travel an estimated 23,000 miles through the friendly skies this season.

UTAH VALLEY WINS SUMMIT LEAGUE/WAC CHALLENGE GAME FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT SEASON
With its 68-62 win at North Dakota State on Nov. 23, Utah Valley claimed a win in the Summit League/WAC Challenge for a second straight season. Utah Valley defeated Denver in last season's Summit League/WAC Challenge matchup. The WAC won the first-ever Summit League/WAC Challenge by finishing with a 6-3 record against the Summit League last season. The Summit League leads the season's event, 2-1.

WASHINGTON FEATURED MONDAY NIGHT ON ESPN'S TOP-10 PLAYS
Utah Valley senior guard scored a career-high 22 points with five threes in Monday night's loss at No. 9 Kentucky. A shot fake from beyond the arc that made his opponent fly through the air, and then the drive and finish at the basket was featured as the No. 10 play on Monday night on ESPN SportsCenter's Top-10 plays of the night. Washington helped lead UVU's comeback after being down 16 points to cutting the lead to just one point, 67-66, with 3:26 to play.

BBN SHOWCASE
Utah Valley wrapped up Big Blue Network Showcase play on Tuesday night with a 64-61 loss at Mount St. Mary's. The Wolverines opened the Multi-Tournament Event with a 66-55 win at UAB before dropping an 84-72 decision at Kentucky and a 74-68 loss at home to Lamar. UVU finished the BBN Showcase with a 1-3 record.

UVU RANKS SECOND NATIONALLY IN BLOCKS
As of Nov. 28, Utah Valley ranks second in the nation in blocks with 51. The Wolverines also rank 13th nationally in blocks per game at 6.4 a contest. Individually, Emmanuel Olojakpoke is fifth nationally with 26 blocks. He also ranks 11th in blocks per game at 3.25.

BLOCK PARTY
Utah Valley's 11 blocks in its 72-55 win over Westminster is the second-most blocks in a single game in UVU history. Brandon Morley and Emmanuel Olojakpoke each had five blocks, which ranks 10th on the UVU individual single game record charts. The 11 blocks are the most blocks in a single game since UVU recorded 11 blocks in a win over Chicago State on Jan. 12, 2017. The all-time UVU single game record for blocks is 12 set by the 2012-13 team in a win over NJIT on Jan. 5, 2013.
