OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley volleyball team is preparing for the last leg of regular-season conference matchups on the road, as the Wolverines will travel to Kansas City to face the UMKC Roos on Thursday, November 7 at 6pm MT and then to the Windy City for a contest against the Chicago State Cougars, November 9 at 10am MT.
The Wolverines currently sit on an even 66 conference record for a fifth-place standing in the Western Athletic Conference. UVU is averaging 12.2 kills per set for a .193% attack average, 11.4 assists per set, 14.1 digs per set and 2.4 blocks per set. Two Wolverines top the WAC in their respective fields, as Kanza Tarawhiti has held a season-long No. 1 spot in the conference for kills per set (3.77) and tallied 324 total kills.
Makaila Jarema is also in a first-place position for her campiagn at the net, posting 1.59 blocks per set and 86 total blocks.
UMKC has posted a 9-3 conference record with a 13-9 overall record so far in the 2019 season. The Roos are averaging 13.3 kills per set for a .235% attack average, 12.5 assists per set, 14.1 digs per set and 1.9 blocks per set. Utah Valley and Kansas City have met 14 times since 2013 for an 8-6 overall record, with the Roos claiming a victory in the most recent appearance, 2-3 in October.
Chicago State, who is 0-12 in conference play and 4-22 overall, is averaging 11.4 kills per set for a .138% attack average, 20.7 assists per set, 15.0 digs per set and 1.5 blocks per set. Utah Valley and Chicago State have met 25 times since 2007 for a 24-1 overall record, with the Wolverines winning the most recent matchup in October, 3-0.
Following the UMKC-CSU trip, Utah Valley will look to one more pair of regular-season contests against Seattle U and Cal Baptist, November 14 and 16. UVU then returns home to prepare to host their first ever WAC volleyball championships in the Lockhart Arena, November 21-23.
