Aaron Caprio added the fourth goal for the Wolverines, scoring on a penalty kick in the 86th minute.
"There were naturally a lot of emotions out there today. To watch our seniors walk off Clyde Field with a solid result in front of family, friends, and our 12th Wolverines, was truly something special for everyone," UVU head coach
Greg Maas said. "Our focus has now quickly changed to next week's WAC tournament in Colorado. We're confident, riding great momentum, and we're looking forward to an exciting run for UVU men's soccer."
The game was scoreless for over 55 minutes before the Falcons (7-10-0, 6-5-1) got a goal from Tristan Trager. Trager got his head on the ball right in front of the goal mouth and scored his seventh goal in the last three contests. Trager leads the WAC with 13 goals, one in front of Frischknecht.
Maas got the equalizer in the 69th minute on a toe poke that ricocheted off the goalkeeper and in. The goal was Maas' career-high sixth of the season and extended UVU's winning streak to three in a row.
Frischknecht's game-winning goal came in the 78th minute on a free kick from just outside the box. His ball went over the wall, hit the crossbar and went in for goal No. 11. His second goal came when
Luis Vargas sent a ball forward and Frischknecht flicked it with the outside of his foot, over the oncoming goalkeeper, to the back post and into the side netting for the 3-1 lead. Vargas and
Jaiden Waggoner – both seniors -- were credited with assists on the play.
Senior goalkeeper
Mitch Jensen finished with four saves in his final game as he and the other six seniors on the rosters were all honored prior to the match.
Alec Felix, who is the program's career leader in minutes played, and
Luis Garza joined Jensen, Frischknecht, Caprio, Vargas and Waggoner as the Wolverines playing their final game on Clyde Field.
The WAC Tournament begins next Wednesday with the opponent and start time to be determined by the remainder of Saturday's action.
