- Utah Valley University women's basketball hosts the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Lockhart Arena. The game will air live on UVU TV and on the WAC Digital Network.Â
- The Vaqueros are currently in second place in the WAC standings at 8-3 and are 14-10 overall.Â
- Utah Valley (12-11, 6-4) has six regular season games remaining, four on the road and two at home. After Saturday's game, UVU will four of its final five WAC games on the road.
- Jordan Holland is averaging 13.6 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Wolverines and has scored in double figures in 14 straight games. Eve Braslis is scoring 10.2 points and grabbing and 6.0 rebounds and Alexis Cortez is just shy of being the third player to average in double figures, with 9.9 per contest.
- Utah Valley leads a competitive all-time series against UTRGV, 15-14, including a buzzer-beating win when the teams met on Jan. 17 in Edinburg, Texas. With just 1.1 seconds left, Cortez lobbed a pass from the sideline into Holland, whose layup hit the back of the iron and dropped in for a 57-55 win. Holland finished with 19 and Cortez 17 for UVU. The Wolverines are 11-4 against the Vaqueros in Orem with the two teams splitting the last six games dating back to the 2016 season.Â

Utah Valley University made a fourth-quarter run but couldn't come all the way back, falling 72-63 to WAC-leading New Mexico State on Thursday in Lockhart Arena. The Wolverines trailed by as much as 16 in the final quarter before twice closing to within four, the latest on a turnaround jumper by Josie Williams with 2:53 left. But an 8-0 run helped secure the Aggies'Â ninth straight win. Jordan Holland finished with 18 points and five steals with Eve Braslis add 14 and Alexis Cortez 11 points and seven rebounds.
ABOUT THE VAQUEROS
UT Rio Grande Valley is coming off of a 74-70 overtime win at Seattle U on Thursday night and has won five straight including three in a row on the road. Idil Turk leads the Vaqueros with 10.6 points per game overall while Madison Northcutt, who averages 9.5ppg, has upped her average to 11.4 per contest during WAC play. UTRGV has limited opponents to a league-best 57.9 points per game in conference.Â

The Wolverines head to the Midwest next week with games at Chicago State (Feb. 21) and UMKC (Feb. 23). The following week UVU hosts California Baptist, in the final home game of the season, on March 2.Â
