ST. GEORGE, Utah – Utah Valley softball dominated in a rescheduled doubleheader over Southern Utah, claiming both games 12-6 and 13-6. The Wolverines had a monstrous day at the plate to sweep the day and the season series from the Thunderbirds.
The Wolverines also defeated SUU in the Marucci Desert classic, 10-3.
Game 1 – Utah Valley jumped out quickly to take a 6-0 lead after two innings.
Several Wolverines contributed to the offensive output including Lindsay Steverson, who doubled to send
Skylar Cook home for the first run of the game.
Brianna Moeller then delivered a two-run homerun that also scored Steverson and put UVU in front 3-0.
Steverson added a trip around the bases herself, with a monster home run in the top of the fourth to create a comfortable 7-2 lead for UVU.

Madison Sisco and Cook all singled to load the bases, before Steverson drove in two more runs with a base hit to extend it to the final 12-6 tally.
Steverson was a perfect 3-for-3, with the home run and four RBIs while Doughty finished with three hits and scored three times and Moeller drove in three.
Devyn Cretz went the distance again for UVU in game one and got the win to move to 4-3 on the season.
Game 2 – In game two, Utah Valley put up a crooked number in the fourth, scoring seven times which turned out to be the difference in the game.
Madison Sisco homered twice as the Wolverines hit four out of the park as a team.
Doughty got the ball rolling for the Wolverines, with a lead-off home run on the first pitch of game two. The T-Birds responded with two runs to close out the first and take their first lead of the day.
Sisco joined the party with a home run at the top of the second that scored
Berlyn Carreon to take back the lead for Utah Valley. Her second home run in the seven-run fourth, the same inning that Moeller hit a three-run bomb. UVU led 11-4 after four innings.
Moeller drove in four runs while Sisco had three RBIs and Carreon finished with three hits and also drove in three.
On deck for the Wolverines is a three-game series against Montana on March 16-17. The teams will play doubleheader on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. MT before Sunday's finale at 1 p.m. MT.
