MISSOULA, Montana – Utah Valley dropped a duel to Montana on Saturday, game one at 5-4 and game two at 10-3.
The Wolverines found themselves at a 3-0 deficit well into the bottom of the fourth inning.
Berlyn Carreon got things rolling at the plate for UVU when she singled to center field to send
Basia Query and eventually herself home to them cut the margin to 2-3 going into the fifth.
Utah Valley would cut the Grizzlies lead to go into the seventh inning tied, 4-4. A double from Montana would put them on top to end the first game.
Basia Query went 3-for-2 in the first and also added a pair of doubles for the Wolverines.
UVU would begin game two on top of UM up to the fourth inning, claiming a 2-1 lead. Utah Valley would come up short, ending game two at 10-3.
Skylar Cook went a perfect 2-for-2 in game two.
Query again added a double in the second game to total three doubles on the day for the junior catcher.
UVU will head back to the Grizzly Softball Field on Sunday for a final match-up at 1pm MT. The Wolverines then travel straight to Idaho State for a one-day doubleheader against the Bengals on March 19, before looking to their first WAC opener against GCU, March 22-23.
