ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Sunday's final day of competition for Utah Valley softball at the Red Desert Classic has been cancelled due to rain and unplayable field conditions. The games will not be not be made up.
After having Saturday's games washed out, each team was then rescheduled to play two games on Sunday. With a chance of more rain overnight as well as very wet field conditions, UVU's Sunday contests against No. 24 Baylor and in-state foe Utah State are now cancelled as well.
Despite losing three games due to the weather, the Wolverines were able to get a pair of games in on the weekend on Friday. UVU split the two contests with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Saint Mary's and a 16-0 run-rule setback to Notre Dame.
Utah Valley will return to Southern Utah next weekend for a doubleheader against in-state foe SUU on Saturday, March 9 in Cedar City.
