OREM, Utah – Utah Valley University fell in the final home game of the regular season, 92-74, to California Baptist University in Lockhart Arena.
Jordan Holland pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds and also scored 10 points for her second consecutive double-double.
Eve Braslis led the Wolverines (14-13, 8-6) with 14 points and
Maria Carvalho added 11.
The Lancers (17-10, 10-4), who won their eighth straight game, had five players reach double figures led by Britney Thomas' 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tiena Afu finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, Emma Meriggioli scored 14 while dishing out nine assists, Lexi Ram chipped in 11 and Ane Olaeta had 10.
Early on,
Keana Delos Santos hit a 3-pointer to give UVU a 10-8 lead before the Lancers went on a 12-2 run go ahead by eight, 20-12. After the Wolverines closed to within five, CBU ended the first quarter with seven straight points to lead 27-15 after one.
After hitting nearly 56 percent of its shots in the first quarter, California Baptist was even hotter in the second, shooting 10-for-15 (66.7 percent) in that quarter. The Lancers made 60.6 percent in the first half and made eight 3-pointers to build a 55-31 lead at the break, forcing the Wolverines to play catch-up the rest of the way.
Utah Valley will hit the road for the last two games in the WAC regular season with games at Grand Canyon next Thursday and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday.
