Wolverines to host series against Seattle U

UPDATE: With rain and wet field conditions in the Orem area on Friday, Friday's (April 12) series opener between the Wolverines and Redhawks has been pushed back an hour to a 3 p.m. MT start. 

OREM, Utah
- The Wolverines will return home to the Utah Valley softball field to take on a series against WAC opponent Seattle U after a three-game travel period against Utah and then New Mexico State. This weekend series will begin with a single game on Friday, April 12 at 3 p.m. MT followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 beginning at 1 p.m. MT, capped by a 3:30 p.m. projected started to finish the series. 

Utah Valley is currently 1-2 in WAC competition, sweeping Kansas CIty two weeks ago at home but dropping series against Grand Canyon and then New Mexico State just last week. Senior outfielder Brianna Moeller also hit .462 with a home run and four RBIs for the Wolverines alongside right-handed pitcher Devyn Cretz, who went 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA and nine strikeouts over 24.0 innings last week.

Abby Doughty, who was instrumental in the Wolverines previous sweep over UMKC with a 1.143 slugging percentage and hiting a .429, was also dubbed WAC's Athlete of the Week for the beginning of April for her performance over the Roos. Doughty leads Utah Valley in runs scored with 24, a staggering 33 hits and a .351 batting average. Following suit is teammate Lyndsay Steverson with a .326 batting average, eight doubles, seven homeruns, 31 hits, 21 runs scored and a .632 slugging percentage. 

Against Seattle, the Wolverines have gone 14-20 overall and a tied 5-5 in conference versus the Redhawks. In last years series, UVU produced two homeruns and nine RBI's over the three-game stance.

- Currently 25-14 over for 2019
- 4-2 in WAC play 
- Redhawks have defeated other WAC members UMKC and NMSU, 2-1 in series earlier this season
- SU has won its last four home games from walk-off's 

ON DECK
Next for UVU is the UCCU Crosstown Clash match-up against long-standing rival BYU, hosted at the Cougars home field on April 16. Following BYU, the Wolverines will return to WAC play against California Baptist in Riverside, Calif., April 19-20.
