Softball to face BYU in UCCU Crosstown Clash

OREM, Utah - On the heels of hosting of WAC competitor Seattle U over the weekend, Utah Valley University softball will now head to Provo for a UCCU Crosstown Clash at neighboring rival BYU on Tuesday.

The in-state contest will begin at 6 p.m. MT and will be streamed live by BYUtv on YouTube. Live stats for the midweek non-conference ballgame will also be available by visiting BYUStats.com.

Utah Valley will enter Tuesday's game with a 12-22 overall record and a 4-8 WAC clip after hosting Seattle U at home this past weekend. UVU is coming off of a previous home sweep against UMKC, a single game victory at Utah and taking a 9-7 game from number one preseason projected New Mexico State. 

Against Seattle U, freshman powerhouse and last week's WAC softball hitter of the week, Abby Doughty continued her stride of hot hitting against the Redhawks. Doughty tripled to lead off in the second game, while teammate Madison Sisco homered and Brianna Moeller brought in an RBI and a double on the day for the Wolverines. Seattle U would however, take all three games from Utah Valley at 12-1, 11-1, 4-1 on the weekend. 

On the season, Abby Doughty paces UVU at the plate with a .360 batting average, six homeruns, 25 runs scored and a WAC softball hitter of the week honor. Senior outfielder Brianna Moelelr is next by hitting .325, while Steverson leads the way in the power numbers with seven homers and 27 RBIs. Cretz leads the pitching staff with a 5.32 ERA and a 9-11 record, while Brylee Marziale s right behind her with a 6.40 ERA and a 2-4 win-loss clip.

ABOUT BYU:
- The Cougs are 19-19 over on the 2019 season and 5-1 in West Coast Conference play. 
- BYU finished last season at a 13-1 record in conference play. 
- This will be the 45th time Brigham-Young and Utah Valley will face each other. 
- BYU holds an all-time 40-4 record in series match-ups against UVU, winning the last 10 over the Wolverines. 

ON DECK FOR UVU:
Utah Valley will now travel to the Golden state for a series match-up against WAC competition California Baptist on Friday, April 19, beginning with a doubleheader at 6pm MT followed by a night cap at 8:30pm MT. The Wolverines then will finish the weekend against the Lancers on April 20, with a single game at 1pm MT.
