OREM, Utah - In a last round of competition for the Wolverine softball team, UVU will face Weber State in a single match-up on April 30 at 4:30pm MT at home in Orem, followed by a pair of games against Utah State, with the first being at home as well on May 4 at 2pm MT followed by a season cap at Utah State on May 5 at 1pm MT.
Following a series sweep of final regular-season WAC opponent, CSU Bakersfield this past weekend (3-0, 7-2, 8-0,), three games now stand between the Wolverines and the WAC Softball Championships, beginning May 8 in Phoenix, Arizona. UVU will head into the postseason tournament at a projected No. 4 or No. 5 seed.
Utah Valley capped the conference season with strong performances on the mound and at the plate.
Devyn Cretz captured her first shut out of the season, went 14 innings in the series without allowing an earned run and finished the weekend 2-0.
At the plate,
Lyndsay Steverson went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs while
Peyton Prigge came off the bench and went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs. Steverson now sits at an impressive .325 batting average, .635 slugging percentage, with 26 runs and 41 hits. Senior centerfielder
Brianna Moeller also went 2-for-3 against CSUB and added a pair of doubles in the victories over the Roadrunners.
Against Weber State, Utah Valley has historically held a close record of 16-15 against Weber State and 11-22 against Utah State.
