ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Utah Valley gave Big Ten foe Michigan all it could handle on Sunday afternoon, playing the Wolverines to a 1-1 tie in regulation before falling 2-1 in overtime at U-M Soccer Field.

"I'm really proud of the team," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay. "We put together an awesome performance and were with a quality opponent on the road every step of the way. We actually had a chance to win the game with seven minutes to go but couldn't get it in. Overall, I thought we played great and we'll take a lot away from this trip. I think its been great preparation for what we have coming up."

With the loss, UVU falls to 0-2-0 overall on the season. Both of UVU's matches this season have come on the road. Michigan improves to 2-0-0 on the year. UVU now returns home from its Great Lakes State road trip to host Cal Poly on Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. (MT).

Michigan was first to get on the scoreboard as Raleigh Loughman got the ball past the goal line in the 29th minute to give UM at 1-0 lead.

Utah Valley tied the game at 1-1 in the 54th minute after
Amber Tripp picked off UM's center back and went one-on-one with the keeper and slotted the ball underneath her for the goal.

After playing to a 1-1 tie in regulation, Michigan's Sara Stratigakis broke loose inside the box and found the net to give UM the game-winner in the 93rd minute.

Michigan out-shot Utah Valley 16-5 on the day, including an 8-5 advantage on goal. The Wolverines tallied four corner kicks to Michigan's two. Tripp led UVU with two shots, both of which were on goal.

Jocelyn Bybee each had one shot.

Allie Jara played all 92:45 in the box, collecting a season-high six saves.

Utah Valley welcomes Cal Poly to Clyde Field for its home opener on Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. The Wolverines will then host Cal State Fullerton on Labor Day (Sept. 2) at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network and the KSL TV app.
