OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley volleyball team begins WAC play at home, starting with defending conference champion New Mexico State on September 26 at 6pm MT, followed by UT Rio Grande Valley, September 28 at 1pm MT. 
The Wolverines open the slate of WAC matchups on the heels of a second-place conference finish in 2018. UVU took a 3-0 victory over UTRGV in the semifinal matchup of the conference tournament and finished just behind New Mexico State in a 1-3 finish in the championship game. 
 
Utah Valley captured a trio of wins in the slate of non-conference contests, including victories over Portland State, UC Davis and Utah State.
 
UVU heads into WAC play hitting .165% as a team, tallying 12.2 kills, 11.6 assists, 14.4 digs and 2.3 blocks per set.
Sophomore outside hitter 
Kazna Tarawhiti continues her four-week streak at the top of both the WAC and UVU's list with her 3.95 kills per set average, tallying 150 kills in the non-conference campaign. 
 
New Mexico State currently sits on a 9-3 record in the 2019 season, including wins over Auburn and New Mexico. NMSU as a team is hitting a .265% average with 12.8 kills, 11.8 assist, 12.8 digs set and 2.9 blocks per set. The Wolverines and the Aggies will meet on Thursday for the 13th time since 2013, where the teams have posted a 3-10 record overall.
 
UT Rio Grande Valley posted a 6-8 non-conference record with wins over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and Maryland. As a team, the Vaqueros are hitting a .209% average for 11.7 kills, 11.1 assists, 14.7 digs and 1.8 blocks per set. UVU and UTRGV have met 38 times since 2003 for a 30-8 overall record in the last 16 years.
 
After the double contest at home, UVU will head to the Golden State for a matchup against CSU Bakersfield on October 3 at 7pm MT, followed by a trip to Arizona for a contest against Grand Canyon, October 5 at 4pm MT.
