Wolverines fall on the road at Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash. – Utah Valley was unable to recover from a slow start as it dropped an 83-50 decision on the road at Seattle U on Saturday night at the Redhawk Center.

The loss drops UVU to 7-11 on the season, including 1-2 in conference play. The Redhawks improve to 9-9 on the year and 2-1 in WAC play with the win.  
 
Seattle U opened up the game with a 10-1 run over the first four minutes to take control of the game. After a Brandon Averette layup, the Redhawks went on a 16-4 surge to extend the lead to 26-7 with 10:57 to go in the opening half. The Wolverines were unable to cut into the lead as both teams exchanged baskets the rest of the way, with Seattle U taking a 37-20 lead into the break. The Redhawks scored the first seven points of the second half to push its lead to 44-20 with 15:23 to go in the game. Utah Valley would not get any closer than 22 the rest of the way as Seattle U finished off the 83-50 win.
 
The Wolverines shot season-lows from the field and from beyond the arc, finishing 13 of 52 from the floor and 3-20 from beyond the arc. UVU connected on 21 of 25 from the free throw line but was outrebounded 38-34 by the Redhawks. Jamison Overton was the only Wolverines in double figures, finishing with 10 points. Averette and Trey Woodbury chipped in nine points each and Emmanuel Olojakpoke added a couple of blocks.

Utah Valley returns home to take on New Mexico State on Jan. 16 at 7:00 P.M. MT in the UCCU Center. The Wolverines then host UT Rio Grande Valley on Jan. 18 in the UCCU Center.
