UVU travels to Riverside to face CBU

OPENING TIP
Utah Valley University will wrap up the first half of the Western Athletic Conference schedule in a Wednesday match up at California Baptist. Tip time is 11 a.m. PT/noon MT.

The Wolverines (8-11, 5-2) suffered their first losses of the WAC season last week after beginning the league schedule with five straight wins. UVU is currently tied with Kansas City at 5-2 atop the conference standings with three additional teams with 4-2 records.

UVU dropped a heartbreaker last Thursday to CSU Bakersfield on a buzzer-beater, 55-53. On Saturday, the Wolverines saw a second-half surge by Grand Canyon result in a 66-59 defeat. Utah Valley was outscored 41-29 in the second half on by the Lopes. GCU outshot UVU from the field, the first time the Wolverines didn't have a higher field goal percentage than the opponent over the last nine games.

Jordan Holland finished with a season-high 20 points against the Roadrunners and then added 15 more against the Lopes. Her first basketball against GCU on Saturday gave her 1,000 points in her career. She's the eighth player in the program's NCAA Division era to surpass the 1,000-point mark.

Nehaa Sohail matched her career-high with 13 points against GCU while Maria Carvalho finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists. The two home losses came after UVU had won seven straight games prior, including five in a row at home.
