OREM—Utah Valley head women's soccer coach
Chris Lemay has announced that University of Utah forward Anna Pickering has transferred to Utah Valley and will play for the Wolverines this upcoming season.
Â
"Anna will add another weapon in our attack immediately," said Lemay. "She is great in the wide space and is a real threat in one-on-one situations. Her most defining quality is her ability to finish. She has a knack for scoring goals and you can never have too many goal scorers on your squad. She has already shown well in training and we are excited to have her in the program."
Â
Pickering played in three matches and logged 49 minutes at Utah last season. The 5-foot-7 forward scored 51 career goals, including seven game winners for Maple Mountain High School in Spanish Fork. She led MMHS to the state title in 2017 and a region championship in 2018. The Mapleton, Utah native played club soccer for Celtic FC where she won three state titles, a regional title and a 2019 national title.
Â
"I chose Utah Valley because I've been really impressed with the soccer program and the school," said Pickering. "It's part of my community and I love the team bond. I grew up playing with some of the girls on the team and I'm excited to continue my soccer career with them by my side."
Â
Pickering has already enrolled at UVU and is currently practicing with the team.
