UVU travels to Bay Area for four games

ON DECK
Utah Valley University takes its school-record start to the Bay Area where they'll face Nevada one time and Saint Mary's three times in Moraga, California. The Wolverines are 8-2 and off to the best start in the program's NCAA Division I era. Utah Valley has won seven of eight overall.

UVU and Nevada will play a neutral site contest on Friday at 10:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. MT and then face Saint Mary's at 2:30 p.m. PT later that day. The Wolverines and Gaels will also play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at noon PT.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley went 5-1 last week at the Marucci Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Wolverines defeated in-state rival Weber State and Montana two times each, and split two games with host UNLV.

Against Weber State, UVU came from behind in both contests and both times scored six unanswered runs to win. In the opening game, Utah Valley trailed 2-0 before scoring twice in the fourth and four times in the sixth to win 6-2. Peyton Prigge hit a game-tying home run in the fifth and drove in two more runs in the sixth. In Sunday's win over the Wildcats, UVU trailed 5-0 before erupting for six in the sixth. The big blow was a two-out grand slam by Abby Doughty for a 6-5 final.

In the final game of the tournament, Devyn Cretz continued her early-season success with a shutout of UNLV, 2-0. Cretz also got a win over Montana and a save against Weber State during the weekend and was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week for the second straight time to start the season.

IN THE HOLE
Utah Valley will be off next weekend before traveling to Northern Colorado for a five-game tournament beginning Friday, March 6. The Wolverines will see Northern Colorado and Northern Iowa two times apiece and play one game against Omaha.
