GREELEY, Colo. – Utah Valley University dropped its weekend finale, 4-1, to the University of Northern Iowa on Sunday in a tournament at Northern Colorado University.
Abby Doughty was 2-for-2 for the Wolverines (12-7) and
Madison Carr drove in UVU's lone run of the contest.
A pair of home runs accounted for three of the Panthers' (7-14) four runs. Sammy Bunch hit a two-out, solo home run in the third to give UNI a 1-0 lead. Adara Opiola delivered a two-run home run as part of a three-run fifth that gave Northern Iowa a 4-0 lead.
Utah Valley's run came in the seventh, after
Peyton Prigge walked with one out and later scored on a Carr single.
After playing its first 19 games away from home, Utah Valley will host Utah State on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT. The Wolverines and Aggies will also play on Sunday in Logan. UVU is slated to play three of its next four games at home before opening the WAC schedule on March 20 at CSU Bakersfield.
