OREM – Utah Valley dominated Idaho State in its final exhibition, sweeping the Bengals 3-0 in Lockhart Arena. The Wolverines used a balanced attack to complete the sweep 25-20, 25-20, 25-13.
"We were excited to finally get on the court and not be competing against ourselves, " said Utah Valley head coach
Sam Atoa. "It was great energy and great to see some really good things from each of the kids. We're excited about their energy and their focus on the things that we had talked about prior to the match."
Kazna Tanuvasa led the Wolverines with 10 kills.
Tori Dorius chipped in nine kills and
Jaysa Funk Stratton led UVU with 24 assists.
Seren Jardine and
Bryton Bishop each added 11 digs. The Wolverines and Bengals played an extra set with Utah Valley defeating ISU 25-21 in set number four.
The Wolverines head to Riverside, Calif. to start its WAC schedule at California Baptist. UVU will take on the Lancers on Monday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. MT and Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. MT. Utah Valley will then return home for its home opener against Seattle U on Feb. 1-2 in Lockhart Arena.
