2021 Softball Schedule Released

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley University softball coach Stacy May-Johnson has announced the team's 2021 schedule, which is highlighted by contests against No. 2 Washington and No. 4 Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma contest is slated during a five-game opening weekend tournament (Feb. 12-14) at future WAC foe Abilene Christian. Tarleton, which will be UVU's final conference home series of the season in May, and UTEP are also part of the tournament.

The following two weekends will be played in St. George, Utah, at the Dixie State Classic (Feb. 19-21) and in a three-game series against Southern Utah (Feb. 26-27). Utah Valley will face Montana, Utah State, BYU, Nevada and the 2nd-ranked Huskies in at the Dixie State Classic.

"Our team is really ready to get back out there after having things end so abruptly last spring," said May-Johnson. "We really want to challenge ourselves early on and hit a stride once we get to conference play and then into the WAC tournament. I think this schedule is balanced and will help us as we aim to compete for a WAC Championship."

Utah Valley is coming off of a shortened 2020 season that saw the program's best start at the NCAA Division I level. The Wolverines started the year 12-4 and finished 12-7 prior to the shut down.

March begins with a tournament at UNLV (March 3-5), where the Wolverines are scheduled to play six games, including two against the host Rebels and two against Idaho State. UVU wraps up the 22-game schedule away from home to start the season with doubleheaders at UC Santa Barbara (March 9) and UC Riverside (March 10).

Idaho State comes to Orem for the home opener on March 14 in a twin bill and Weber State will travel from Ogden for a single game on March 16 for a brief homestand. The next three weeks will take the Wolverines to Montana (March 19-20), Grand Canyon to open WAC play (March 26-27), and California Baptist (April 2-3). During that stretch, midweek contests at Utah and Utah State are scheduled, with a midweek game at Weber State wrapping up the road swing on April 6.

The remaining WAC series will be Seattle U (April 9-10), Dixie State (April 16-17), at New Mexico State (April 30-May 1) and Tarleton (May 7-8). Utah Valley will also have non-conference games against BYU (home and away), home against Utah State and at UTEP over the final month of play.

Seattle U is the host of the 2021 WAC Tournament, which is scheduled for May 12-15.
