WOLVERINES HOST REBELS IN WAC PLAY
The halfway point of the WAC schedule hits this Saturday as Utah Valley University hosts UNLV at 6 p.m. MT at Clyde Field in Orem, Utah. The game can be seen live on ESPN+. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. but was moved up one hour.
The Wolverines (5-3-2, 2-2-0) are wrapping up a three-game homestand as they prepare for the final six-game stretch, three home and three away. UVU will hit the road next week for two games, return home for two — including Senior Day on Oct. 30 — and close out the conference season at California Baptist on Nov. 6.
Aaron Nixon leads the Wolverines with four goals while Diego Castillo has scored three goals and has four assists, which is tied for team lead along with Jojea Kwizera. Castillo's 10 points lead the club. Evans Armah has also scored three goals for Utah Valley.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley saw itself on the wrong end of two home contests last week, falling 1-0 to San José State and 2-1 to Seattle U. The only goal scored by the Wolverines went as an own goal. UVU outshot its two opponents by a 30-12 margin, but only six of the 30 were on target. Overall, Utah Valley has 154-79 advantage it total shots, including a 62-34 edge on goal.
UP NEXT
The Wolverines will play a pair of road contests next weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 22 at Chicago State at 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT. The trip finishes up two days later at Houston Baptist on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. CT/noon MT.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
UNLV is 6-6-0 overall and 2-3-0 in WAC play, and has won two straight after sweeping it's two-game homestand last week — pair of 2-1 wins over Houston Baptist and Chicago State. Aedon Kyra leads the team with five goals, which is tied for fourth among all WAC players. The Rebels own a 5-4-0 advantage in the all-time series, with the teams splitting four contests in Orem.
