"The best part about today was our three seniors leaving Clyde Field with the win," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay. "The entire team wanted to come in and put in a performance to honor them. It wasn't the prettiest, but we did what did what we had to do to get the result."
Utah Valley took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute after
Julianna Carter sent the ball into the box from the left side where a California Baptist defender tried to clear it out.
Sadie Brockbank blocked the attempted clear and quickly settled the ball before sending a cross to
Heather Stainbrook on the right side. Stainbrook then fired it into the back of the net to give the Wolverines the first score of the match. The goal is the eighth of the season for Stainbrook and the 14th of her career.
The Utah Valley defense earns its ninth shutout of the season and its eighth shutout victory of the year. She had three saves against the Lancers. Nielsen picks up her 10th win and sixth solo clean sheet of the season. She also has three combined shutouts.
