UVU WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON PLAY ON THE ROAD AT NM STATE, GRAND CANYON
Utah Valley will wrap up regular season play this week with the WAC regular season division title on the line. The Wolverines will travel to play New Mexico State on Thursday before heading to Phoenix to play Grand Canyon on Saturday. Both matches are set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
The Wolverines went 2-0 last week at home with a pair of shutout wins against Seattle U and California Baptist.
Julianna Carter and
Amber Tripp scored goals in the 2-0 win over Seattle U, while
Heather Stainbrook scored the game winner in UVU's 1-0 win over CBU. The UVU defense recorded its eighth and ninth shutouts of the season.
Heather Stainbrook leads the Wolverines in scoring with eight goals, including a team-best four game winners.
Sadie Brockbank leads the team in points (22), assists (8), shots (63), and shots on goal (27).
Nicole Ray has four goals, followed Tripp and Carter with three goals apiece.
Grace Beeston has two goals, while
Breanna Eves,
Jenna Shepherd, and
London Miller each have one. In all, nine Wolverines have scored a goal this season with six of those players scoring two or more goals.
The UVU defense has recorded nine shutouts with eight of them coming in a win. The defense has allowed 18 goals through its 17 games.
Brooklyn Nielsen has led the Wolverines in the box with 38 saves and holds a .679 save percentage. She has a 1.03 goals allowed average.
WAC TITLE UP FOR GRABS THIS WEEK
Utah Valley controls its own destiny as the Wolverines can secure a second-straight WAC regular season title with a pair of wins. UVU and Grand Canyon each have 17 points heading into the final week of play. UVU plays at NM State on Thursday and at Grand Canyon on Saturday night. GCU hosts Dixie State on Thursday night before welcoming UVU to Phoenix on Saturday night.

ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State heads into the week with an 8-9-0 record and a 4-4-0 mark in WAC play. The Aggies picked up a 2-1 double overtime win over Grand Canyon at home last week. Grace Olson scored the game winner with just 15 seconds to play in the final overtime to give the Lopes their first WAC loss of the season and put an end to GCU's 13-match WAC regular season unbeaten streak. NM State's four WAC wins this season are tied for the most regular season league wins in team history. The team has already secured one of the three West Division spots at next week's WAC Tournament in Abilene, Texas. Shea O'Connor leads NM State in scoring this season with three goals. Nine other Aggies have scored at least one goal this year. Makenna Gottschalk leads the team in the box with 78 saves and a .729 save percentage. She also has three shutouts.

Utah Valley and New Mexico State will meet up on the pitch for the 14th time on Thursday night. Utah Valley has never lost a game to the Aggies as the team holds a 9-0-3 all-time series lead. UVU is 3-0-1 against NM State all-time in Las Cruces. Utah Valley took a 2-0 win earlier this season in Orem on Sept. 25.

Grand Canyon enters Saturday's match against Utah Valley with a 12-3-2 overall record and a 5-1-2 WAC record. Utah Valley and Grand Canyon will meet on the pitch for the 17th time on Saturday night with the Wolverines holding an all-time 10-4-3 advantage in the series. UVU holds a 4-3-1 record against GCU in games played in Phoenix. The two teams split a pair of matches in Phoenix last season with each team taking a 1-0 win. The Wolverines have won five of the last eight matchups. GCU's win on Phoenix last season was the team's first win over UVU since the 2016 season.
