Utah Valley travels to play California Baptist, Seattle U

UTAH VALLEY HEADS OUT ON THE ROAD TO PLAY CALIFORNIA BAPTIST, SEATTLE U
Utah Valley will travel to play California Baptist and Seattle U this week in the team's first WAC road matches of the season. The Wolverines will take on CBU on Friday in Norco, California before traveling to the Pacific Northwest to play league rival Seattle U on Sunday in the Emerald City.

Utah Valley enters this week's matches with a 7-4-1 overall record and a 2-0-1 mark in WAC play. The Wolverines overcame an early 1-0 deficit to rally and defeat in-state foe Dixie State 3-2 in the Old Hammer Rivalry game last week in Orem. Sadie Brockbank scored the equalizer, Heather Stainbrook scored UVU's second goal and Julianna Carter scored the third in the 3-2 victory over the Trailblazers.

Stainbrook and Brockbank lead the Wolverines in scoring with six goals apiece. Brockbank leads the team in points (17), shots (43), and shots on goal (21). Nicole Ray has four goals, followed by Amber Tripp, Breanna Eves, Jenna Shepherd, Grace Beeston, London Miller, and Carter who each have one goal. In all, nine Wolverines have scored a goal this season. Brockbank and Carter are tied for the team lead in assists with five apiece.

The UVU defense has recorded six shutout wins. The defense has allowed 16 goals through its 12 games. Brooklyn Nielsen has led the Wolverines in the box with 26 saves and holds a .619 save percentage. She has a 1.30 goals allowed average in 1105 minutes in goal.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
California Baptist enters this week's matches with a 3-6-1 overall record and a 1-2-0 WAC mark. CBU has wins this season over Incarnate Word, Nevada, and Seattle U, all of which were shutouts. The team dropped a pair of WAC road matches last week, falling 6-1 at Grand Canyon before dropping a 1-0 decision at New Mexico State. The Lancers have scored six goals this season. Each of CBU's six goals have been scored by a different player. The Lancers have allowed 17 goals, an average of 1.7 a contest. Romane Salvador has led CBU in the box with 24 saves in 743 minutes of play. Madison Sonerholm has one goal and one assists to lead the team with three points.

SERIES HISTORY VS. CBU
Utah Valley and California Baptist meet up on the pitch for the sixth time on Friday afternoon. The series is tied at 2-2-1. Utah Valley will play the Lancers in California for just the second time on Friday as CBU is 1-0 all-time at home against UVU. That lone home game came during the 2018 season with the Lancers taking a 1-0 win on Oct. 13, 2018. The two teams played a pair of matches in Orem last season with CBU taking a 1-0 win before the two teams played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime.

ABOUT SEATTLE U
Seattle U heads into the week with a 6-5-1 overall record and a 0-3-0 WAC record. The team has opened WAC play with three straight road losses to California Baptist, New Mexico State, and Grand Canyon. The Redhawks have dropped four of their last five matches. Sydney Carr and Leahi Mantheithe team in scoring with three goals each. Hallie Bergford and Bailey Hall also have multiple goals with two apiece. Seven SU players have scored at least one goal this season. Jessica Berlin leads the team in the box with 46 saves and a 1.04 goals allowed per game average. She has one shutout.

SERIES HISTORY VS. SEATTLE U
Utah Valley and Seattle U will meet on the pitch for the 24th time on Sunday. SU holds an all-time 16-4-3 series advantage over the Wolverines. Utah Valley has a three-match unbeaten streak against the Redhawks as the Wolverines tied SU 2-2 and then defeated the Redhawks 4-1 in a pair of regular season games in Orem last season. UVU then defeated SU 1-0 in last season's WAC Tournament championship match in Phoenix. UVU holds an all-time 0-9-0 record against Seattle U in games played in Seattle. Three of the last five meetings between the two teams have gone into overtime.
