UVU set to square off with WAC-foe California Baptist

OREM – Utah Valley returns home for its final homestand of the season, starting with a matchup against WAC-foe California Baptist in Lockhart Arena on Thursday, Nov. 11. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcasted on ESPN+. This marks the eighth matchup between California Baptist and Utah Valley on the volleyball court, with UVU holding a 3-4 record. The Wolverines swept the previous matchup with the Lancers this season, 3-0, in Riverside, Calif.

California Baptist is from Riverside, Calif., and calls the Western Athletic Conference home. CBU is 13-9 this season, including an 8-4 record in WAC play. The Lancers went 8-8 last season, including 4-8 in conference play.

A career day by Kazna Tanuvasa wasn't enough as Utah Valley dropped a matchup against conference foe, New Mexico State, 3-1 (26-24, 19-25, 18-25, 17-25) on the road. Tanuvasa led the Wolverines with 16 kills to go along with three digs and a pair of blocks. With her 16 kills, Tanuvasa passed Camie Manwill for second all-time in UVU history for career kills. Tanuvasa is now just 67 kills away from passing Kayli Doxey for the all-time kills record at Utah Valley.

With her 23 points, senior outside hitter Kazna Tanuvasa passed Jessica Endres for third all-time in UVU history for career points. She also became just the third player in school history to surpass 1700 career points. Tanuvasa is now just three kills away from passing Camie Manwill for second on the all-time kills leaderboard at Utah Valley after becoming the third player with over 1500 career kills.

The Wolverines currently rank #18 in the nation in block assists as a team with 404. Utah Valley also ranks in the top 20 in the country in both total blocks (245.0) and blocks/set (2.63) as a team, good enough for #16 and #17 in the nation, respectively. UVU leads the WAC in each of those categories. Kendra Nock and Sadie Hamson lead the Wolverines while ranking second and third in the WAC in blocks/set. Nock also leads the WAC in total blocks.

Senior outside hitter Kazna Tanuvasa is currently second in UVU history in career kills (1534), needing 67 to pass Kayli Doxey for the most all-time. Tanuvasa also ranks third in career attacks (4018) and third in career points (1718). Senior outside hitter Kristen Bell currently ranks seventh in career points (1177.5), sixth in kills (989), fifth in career attacks (3137), sixth in solo blocks (25), and eighth in aces (75). Abbie Miller now currently ranks eighth in career assists with 812 assists.
