OPENING TIP
- After splitting two road games last week, Utah Valley University returns to the UCCU Center for two contests this week. On Tuesday, the Wolverines will host Colorado Mesa at 6 p.m. MT and on Saturday UVU welcomes Portland State for a noon tip-off. Both games will air live on ESPN+.
- The Wolverines (2-2) won at in-state rival and future WAC foe Southern Utah last Tuesday, 60-54, before coming up short at Nevada on Saturday, 70-64. Josie Williams set a new career-high with 17 rebounds, and also scored 17 points at SUU and Maria Carvalho (26) and Madison Grange (17) also established new career scoring highs at Nevada.
- Carvalho leads the team in scoring at 20.8 points per game and is 12-for-25 (48%) from the 3-point line so far this season. Williams is averaging 15.3 points and 13.0 rebounds per game and Madison Grange is the third player in double figures in scoring, at 12.8 per contest.

Maria Carvalho and Madison Grange both set a new career-highs in scoring but Utah Valley University came up short at Nevada, 70-64, on Saturday at Lawlor Events Center. Carvalho, whose previous high was 23 points, scored 19 of her new high 26 in the first half and finished the game 6-for-7 from the 3-point line. Grange finished with 17 points, 10 in the second half, and Josie Williams added 14 points and nine rebounds, making six of her seven attempts from the floor. Nevada also had three players in double figures, led by Audrey Roden's 17 points off the bench. Nia Alexander added 15 and Da'Ja Hamilton scored 12 for the Wolf Pack.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Colorado Mesa is tied for 24th in the national Division II rankings and owns a 3-0 record on the season. That includes a 92-37 win over Park University, who UVU opened its season with two weeks ago. Tuesday's game is an exhibition for the Mavericks, as has been four of the five meetings between the schools. Utah Valley is 4-1 all-time against the Mavericks, with CMU's win back in the Wolverines' inaugural season of Division I competition, in 2003-04. The teams have not met since 2009.
COMING UP
Saturday's game game against Portland State is the the second game of a three-game homestand. The Wolverines will also host UNLV next Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. MT in the UCCU Center.
