Wolverines host UNLV Wednesday at 4 p.m.

OPENING TIP

  • After finishing November with a 4-2 record, Utah Valley University begins the new month with the final game of a three-game homestand on Wednesday Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. against UNLV in the UCCU Center. The game will air live on ESPN+.
  • Following Wednesday's game, the Wolverines will embark on a stretch of seven straight on the road. UVU won't return home until Jan. 13, four games into WAC play.
  • Josie Williams is leading the country at 14.0 rebounds per game entering this week's action. She's also second on the team with 15.8 points while Maria Carvalho leads the team in scoring at 17.2 points per game. Madison Grange and Megan Jensen round out four players averaging double figures at 12.2 and 10.2, respectively.
  • Williams was named the WAC Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 17.0 point, 16.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in two wins last week. She had a career-high 19 rebounds in last Saturday's win over Portland State. Megan Jensen (19 points), Madison Grange (18 points) and Kayla Anderson (nine assists) also set new career-highs statistically against the Vikings.
     

LAST TIME OUT
Megan Jensen and Madison Grange had career scoring nights while Josie Williams and Kayla Anderson also set new highs statistically in a 62-43 win over Portland State University on Saturday in the UCCU Center. Jensen scored 14 of her game-high 19 in the second half while Grange finished with 18 and hit all four of her attempts from three. Williams added 17 points and set a new career-high with 19 rebounds and Anderson had a career-best nine assists. UVU assisted on 21 of 24 made field goals. The Wolverines had a 49-30 edge on the glass and held the Vikings to just 24.4% (15-for-59) from the field.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
UNLV is also 4-2 so far this season and is the second of two Mountain West opponents for UVU this season. Three of the Lady Rebels' four wins have come in convincing fashion, by an average of 37 points. Essence Booker leads the team at 16.5 points per game and has hit 52.2% from three (12-for-23) while Desi-Rae Young (14.8ppg) and Nneka Obiazor (12.7ppg) are both averaing 6.0 rebounds per game. UNLV is hitting 39.1% from three, which ranks 22nd in the nation.

COMING UP
The Wolverines will travel to Big Sky Country next week to face Montana (Dec. 9) and Montana State (Dec. 11).
