Utah Valley wraps up non-conference play at Washington on Tuesday night

UTAH VALLEY WRAPS UP NON-CONFERENCE PLAY AT WASHINGTON ON TUESDAY NIGHT
  • Utah Valley will wrap up non-conference play on the road on Tuesday as the Wolverines travel to Seattle to take on Pac-12 foe Washington. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (MT) at Alaska Airlines Arena.
     
  • Le'Tre Darthard scored a career-high 30 points and Fardaws Aimaq recorded a 20-point, 16-rebound double-double to lead Utah Valley to a 107-65 win over Bethesda on Friday night at the UCCU Center. The 107 points are the most points ever scored by a team in the UCCU Center. With the win, UVU remains undefeated at home at 4-0.
     
  • UVU's seven-game win streak from Nov. 12-Dec. 1 is the longest streak since the 2018-19 season (7 games) and is the longest of the Mark Madsen era. The seven games was the fourth-longest win streak in the nation at the time.  The longest win streak in UVU history is 13 games, which the team set during the 2011-12 season.
     
  • Fardaws Aimaq has earned multiple honors already this season. He already has three WAC Player of the Week honors and two Lute Olson National Player of the Week wards. He has also earned an ESPN Player of the Week award this year.
     
  • As of Dec. 19, Utah Valley is No. 82 in the NCAA NET Rankings, which is the third best ranking in the WAC behind only New Mexico State (67) and Grand Canyon (71).
     
  • As of Dec. 19, Fardaws Big Maple Aimaq leads the nation in double-doubles (9), total rebounds (149), and defensive rebounds per game (10.00). He also ranks second nationally in rebounds per game (13.5) and 24th nationally in points per game (19.8). Aimaq also ranks 12th in field goals made (84), 12th in offensive rebounds per game (3.55), 24th in total points (218), 26th in free throw attempts (66), and 30th in field goal attempts (164). Aimaq is the only player in the nation to average 19 or more points and 12 or more rebounds per game.
     
  • The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Utah Valley center Fardaws Aimaq has been named to the 2022 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award Watch List. Named after Class of 1995 Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the annual honor in its eighth year recognizes the top centers in men's college basketball.
     
  • Utah Valley won the SoCal Challenge championship in Orange County over Thanksgiving break, defeating Idaho, 83-45, before downing Nicholls State, 74-63, in the title game to claim the championship skimboard trophy. Fardaws Aimaq was named the SoCal Challenge MVP and Connor Harding was named to the all-tournament team. Aimaq averaged a double-double over the two games at 12.0 points and 16.0 rebounds per game.
UTAH VALLEY OFF TO BEST 11-GAME START IN HISTORY
With an 8-3 record, Utah Valley is off to its best start in team history, surpassing the 2017-18 team, which opened that season with a 7-4 record.

PERFECT IN OVERTIME
Four of Utah Valley's 11 games this season have taken extra time. The Wolverines are a perfect 4-0 in those games with overtime road wins at Pepperdine and Long Beach State, and overtime wins at home over Denver and No. 12 BYU. Utah Valley has outscored its opponents 62-28 in its four overtime periods.

THREE-POINT STREAKING
Utah Valley has now hit a three-point field goal in 195 straight games. The last time UVU played in a game without hitting a shot from beyond the arc was on Feb. 7, 2015 at Seattle U.

WOLVERINES REMAIN IN MID-MAJOR TOP-25
Utah Valley entered the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 last week, debuting at No. 14. The Wolverines remained in the poll this past week, falling to No. 24. The new poll comes out on Dec. 20.

UVU BECOMES FIRST NCAA DIVISION I PROGRAM TO WEAR JERSEY PATCH IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER, PARTNERS WITH 5 FOR THE FIGHT
The Utah Valley University men's basketball team has announced it will partner with 5 For The Fight to become the first NCAA Division I program to sponsor a patch in the fight against cancer on its jersey. The team debuted the patch in its game against BYU. UVU will wear the patch on its white uniforms.
 
UVU SETS UCCU CENTER RECORD WITH 107 POINTS SCORED

Utah Valley defeated Bethesda 107-65 on Dec. 17 at the UCCU Center. The 107 points are the most points ever scored in a game by a team at the UCCU Center. Thre previous record was 106 points against Bethesda on Dec. 14, 2017. The 107 points is tied for the third most points ever scored in a single game by UVU. The team single game record for points scored is 123 recorded at Chicago State on Jan. 29, 2009.

DAWS LEADS NATION IN DOUBLE-DOUBLES, TOTAL REBOUNDS, AND DEFENSIVE BOARDS PER GAME

UVU HOLDS THIRD-BEST NCAA NET RANKING IN WAC
As of Dec. 19, Utah Valley holds the third-best NCAA NET rating in the Western Athletic Conference. The Wolverines hold the No. 82 spot in the rakings. New Mexico State holds the top ranking in the WAC at No. 67, followed by Grand Canyon (71), Utah Valley (82), Abilene Christian (97), Stephen F. Austin (153), California Baptist (174), Seattle U (205), Tarleton (227), UTRGV (245), Dixie State (254), Sam Houston (287), Chicago State (324), and Lamar (338).
