OREM—Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay has announced that Oregon State University midfielder Haley Richardson has signed with UVU and will transfer to play for the Wolverines.
"Haley will make an immediate positive impact on our program," said Lemay. "She has proven to be a game changer at the highest level and her individual goals align perfectly with our team goals to compete regularly and make runs in the NCAA Tournament. Haley is a box-to-box midfielder that is a ball winner, can cover ground and be dynamic in the attack."
Richardson, a 5-foot-7 midfielder from Great Falls, Virginia, spent two seasons at Oregon State where she appeared in 13 games and made three starts for the Beavers during the COVID 2020-21 season. She helped the Beavers to a win over defending national champion and third-ranked Stanford as she recorded a season-high 69 minutes. She recorded her first career assist on the road at Washington State (April 9, 2021).
Richardson, who will play the 2022 season at Utah Valley as a freshman, prepped at Langley High School in Virginia. She earned Virginia 6A Liberty District honorable mention as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. She also ran hurdles for LHS and competed at the Virginia 6A regional indoor meet. She played club soccer for the Great Falls Renegades under coach Ged Woods where she helped the team to the 2018 Virginia State Cup championship. She also became a 2018 WAGS Tournament champion and won a 2018 Disney Showcase title.
Because Richardson played for Oregon State during the 2020-21 COVID season and redshirted last year, she will classify as a freshman in 2022 and has four years of eligibility remaining.
