Utah Valley travels to play UTEP on Saturday

UTAH VALLEY CONTINUES NON-CONFERENCE ROAD PLAY AT UTEP ON SATURDAY
After splitting a pair of road games in the Sunshine State last week to open the 2021 spring season, Utah Valley heads to the southwest to take on UTEP on Saturday at 3 p.m. (MT) in El Paso, Texas.

The Wolverines opened the season with a 5-1 win at Florida Atlantic on Feb. 4. Sadie Brockbank recorded a brace with a goal in each half and Heather Stainbrook scored the game winner in the win over FAU. Sydney Bushman and Anna Pickering also recorded goals in the win. UVU then dropped a heart-breaking 1-0 overtime decision at Florida Gulf Coast in the 94th minute on Feb. 7.

Through two matches this season, Brockbank leads the Wolverines in scoring with two goals. She also leads the team with five shots on goal to go along with her four points. Stainbrook also has four points with one goal and a pair of assists. She also has five shots, including one on frame. Nicole Ray and Amber Trip each have three shots this season with two on goal.

Isabel Jones-Dawe leads the team in the box through two matches with a 1-1-0 record. Jones-Dawe has four saves and a .667 save percentage.

As a team, Utah Valley has scored five goals while limiting opponents to just two. UVU has 24 shots with 16 on frame this season.

UTEP owns a 0-2-0 record this season, but plays on Thursday night against rival New Mexico State prior to its game against UVU on Saturday. The Miners opened the season with a 3-1 loss at Arizona State on Feb. 4. Junior forward Ayana Noel scored the lone goal for UTEP in the setback. The team then dropped a 2-0 decision at Arizona on Feb. 7. Through its first two matches of the season, UTEP owns one goal while giving up five. Emily Parrott and Mariah Scott have shared time in goal for the Miners, each playing 90 minutes. UTEP lost just three seniors from last season's team that finished the 2019 season with a 10-7-3 in head coach Kathryn Balogun's debut year. The Miners return four seniors, eight juniors, 10 sophomores, and five freshmen this season.
