Men take third, women finish fourth at UNLV Spring Invitational

LAS VEGAS – The UVU men's and women's track and field team returned to Las Vegas for the third time as both teams competed in the UNLV Spring Invitational. The men's team took third place while the women's team took fourth in a competitive event featuring schools from the Big Sky, Mountain West, WAC, and West Coast Conference.
 
"UNLV was a good meet, even with the wind being out of control," said Utah Valley head track and field coach Scott Houle. "The team was able to get together and compete with great competition. Our kids did a great job and the competitiveness and preparation was there and we are making big strides as we focus on getting ready for conference. We some good things going on in all of our events and we were focused and prepared and were able to come out with some PRs."
 
Isaac Manning led the men's team, finishing in fourth in the decathlon while winning the pole vault with a height of 4.95m and also winning the 400m with a time of 51.00. Zane Farrer won the 110m hurdles, moving into third in UVU history, with a time of 14.41. Albert MacArthur took second in the triple jump with a distance of 15.78m. Aaron Johnson finished third in the 100m, with a time of 10.46, and fourth in the 200m, clocking in with a time of 21.42.
 
Savanna Routsong set a personal record in the hammer throw with a distance of 53.41m. Maddie Beyeler set a personal best in the javelin with a distance of 35.43m. The men's 4x100m relay team took second, finishing with a time of 41.62.
 
The Wolverines continue its outdoor season, returning to UNLV for the UNLV Spring Invitational on Thursday through Saturday, March 18-20, in Las Vegas. UVU then travels to Arizona for the Arizona Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz. on Thursday through Saturday, April 8-10.
