OREM—Utah Valley head coach
Mark Madsen has announced that Barton Community College guard Justin Harmon has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Wolverines this upcoming season.
"We are beyond excited to welcome Justin Harmon and his family to the Utah Valley community," said Madsen. "Justin has excellent defensive abilities, he can get to the rim, and has the ability to be a primary ball handler to initiate the offense. Justin can hit the three and also shot 82% from the free throw line. In watching Justin play, he brings a Midwest toughness and leadership which will only help elevate our level of play. Justin brings high energy and excitement to every possession and will be a big part of our Utah Valley community for years to come."
Harmon, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound combo guard, played the last two seasons at Barton Community College where he earned first team all-conference honors after averaging 16.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last year. Harmon led the Cougars to a 16-9 overall record and a trip to the semifinals of the NJCAA Region VI semifinals.
The Chicago native prepped at Curie High School where he led the Condors to a Chicago City Championship and a third-place finish at state during his senior year. Harmon helped lift CHS to a top-25 national ranking as one of the top teams in the country in 2019 as he finished the season averaging 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists a game. He earned first team all super conference honors at CHS.
Harmon has three seasons of eligibility remaining and will play for the Wolverines this upcoming 2021-22 season.
