Utah Valley hosts Dixie State in Old Hammer Rivalry on Saturday

Wolverines look to secure first-ever WAC regular season title

UTAH VALLEY HOSTS DIXIE STATE ON SATURDAY, LOOKS TO SECURE FIRST-EVER WAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE
Utah Valley wraps up regular season play this week as the team welcomes in-state foe Dixie State for an Old Hammer Rivalry match on Saturday night at Clyde Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Wolverines are currently tied with Seattle U for the top spot in the WAC with 29 points. Seattle U wraps up play at California Baptist on Friday night, while UVU hosts Dixie State on Saturday night. UVU can secure no less than a share of its first-ever WAC regular season title with a win over DSU on Saturday night. If CBU defeats SU on Friday night, UVU wins no less than a share of the title regardless of what happens Saturday night against DSU.

UVU swept a two-match set on the road last week at Chicago State, defeating the Cougars 2-0 and 4-0.  London Miller and Cassidy McCormick scored the goals against CSU in the 2-0 win on Thursday, while Heather Stainbrook, Jenna Shepherd, and Anna Pickering (2) scored the goals in UVU's 4-0 win on Saturday.

Through 17 matches this season, Sadie Brockbank leads the Wolverines  in scoring with a team-best five goals. She also leads the team with 64 shots, including a team-best 39 on frame. Brockbank ranks 10th nationally in shots on goal per game at 2.44. Julianna Carter, Stainbrook, Pickering, and Shepherd each have four goals, while Amber Tripp and Miller each have three. Stainbrook ranks second on the team in total shots with 43, followed by Miller with 30 and Tripp at 25. Brockbank and Stainbrook lead the team in assists with four each. Isabel Jones-Dawe leads the team in the box with an 8-4-3 record. She has recorded 44 saves and owns an .746 save percentage.

ABOUT DIXIE STATE
Dixie State enters Saturday's match against the Wolverines with a 3-9-2 overall record and a 3-7-1 record in WAC play. The Trailblazers are in their debut season in the WAC. DSU split a two-match series with UTRGV at home last week, picking up a 2-1 win before taking a 3-0 loss. The Trailblazers have not won a road match since defeating Chicago State, 4-0, on March 13. Redshirt junior forward Whitley Griffiths leads the Trailblazers in scoring this year with 10 goals. Three other players have three goals each. Griffiths also leads the team with 52 shots, including a team-best 27 on frame.

ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY VS. DIXIE STATE
Utah Valley and Dixie State meet up on the pitch for the sixth time on Saturday and for the second time this season. The all-time series is tied 2-2-1 between the two teams. The two teams meet up in Orem for the first time in 15 years. UVU and DSU played to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 9, 2006 the last time the two teams met in Orem. UVU took a 3-2 win over the Trailblazers earlier this season in St. George.

UVU HOLDS TOP RPI IN THE WAC
Utah Valley holds the best RPI in the WAC this season at 75. Utah Valley is one spot ahead of Auburn (76) and two spots ahead of Notre Dame (77). Seattle U is second in the league at 129, followed by UTRGV (132), California Baptist (145), Grand Canyon (167), New Mexico State (255), Dixie State (296), and Chicago State (312).

UTAH VALLEY RANKS IN THE TOP-50 IN SIX STATISTICAL CATEGORIES
The Wolverines rank in the top-50 in five team statistical categories. The team ranks 11th in total goals (33), 13th in total points (93), 17th in total assists (27), 19th in shots on goal per game (7.6), 27th in corner kicks per game (6.5), and 39th in shots per game (15.5). Individually, Sadie Brockbank ranks 10th in the nation in shots on goal per game at 2.44 a match. She also ranks 22nd in shots per game at 4.00. Heather Stainbrook ranks 22nd nationally with three game-winning goals. UVU keeper Isabel Jones-Dawe ranks 24th in goalie minutes played (1283:38) and 28th in shutouts (5).
