FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Utah Valley travels to Flagstaff, Ariz. for the Lumberjack Classic on Sep. 10-11. The Wolverines will take on Arizona State and UC Davis on Friday, Sep. 10, at 10:30 a.m. MT and 6:30 p.m. MT, respectively. UVU will then take on the host, Northern Arizona on Saturday, Sep. 11 at 3:00 p.m. MT.
Arizona State is from Tempe, Ariz., and calls the Pac-12 Conference home. ASU is 3-3 this season, including a 3-0 sweep of Cal Poly and a pair of losses to ranked teams. The Sun Devils went 6-14 a season ago, finshing ninth in the Pac-12 for the season. This marks the fifth-ever matchup between Utah Valley and Arizona State. The Wolverines hold a 1-3 record against the Sun Devils all-time. UVU dropped the last meeting with Arizona State, 3-0, in Orem on Aug. 30, 2013. The Wolverines last won in a five-set thriller, 3-2, on Sep. 10, 2010, in Tempe, Ariz.
UC Davis is from Davis, Calif., and calls the Big West Conference home. UC Davis is 3-3 this season, including a 3-0 sweep of San Francisco and a pair of losses to ranked teams. The Aggies went 17-13 in 2019 before last season was wiped off due to the pandemic. This marks the sixth-ever matchup between Utah Valley and UC Davis. The Wolverines hold a 3-2 record against the Aggies all-time. UVU won the last meeting with UC Davis, 3-0, in Orem on Sep. 6, 2019.
Northern Arizona is from Flagstaff, Ariz., and calls the Big Sky Conference home. NAU is 0-4 this season, with a pair of games being cancelled. The Lumberjacks went 10-6 a season ago, finsh- ing fourth in the Big Sky for the season. This marks the fourth-ever matchup between Utah Val- ley and Northern Arizona. The Wolverines hold an 0-3 record against the Lumberjacks all- time. The Wolverines dropped the last matchup in a five-set thriller, 3-2, on Aug. 25, 2018, in Davis, Calif.
Senior outside hitter Kazna Tanuvasa is currently fourth in UVU history in career kills (1273), needing 125 to pass Jessica Endres for third all-time. Tanuvasa also ranks third in career attacks (3409) and fourth in career points (1420.5). Senior outside hitter Kristen Bell currently ranks eighth in career points (999.5) and kills (845).
