COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The Utah Valley University women's golf team sits in 16th place after Sunday's opening round of action at Gonzaga's Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational after carding an opening-round 28-over-par 312 at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
 
Sophomore Macy Robertson Murphy and freshman Leighton Shosted are leading the way for the Wolverines, as they both sit in the top-50 of the tournament. Robertson Muphy recorded an opening-round 5-over-par 76 to sit in a tie for 34th place, while Shosted finds herself tied for 45th after carding a 6-over 77. 
 
Senior Bailey Henley also played well for the Wolverines on Sunday, as she's currently tied for 53rd with a 7-over-par 78. Henley led UVU with a trio of birdies on the day.
 
Sophomores Victoria Estrada (81) and Lauren Taylor (82) round out UVU's field of five at the event, as they are currently tied for 80th and 83rd, respectively. 
 
As a team, UVU sits in 16th out of 17 teams but is just one stroke back of Portland State (911) for 15th, five back of UC Irvine for 14th (307) and eight back of Wyoming (305) and North Dakota State (305) for 12th. Hawai'i is leading the event after carding a 6-over 290 on Sunday, while the host Gonzaga Bulldogs and Oral Roberts are tied for second at 9-over-par (293). 
 
There's currently a three-way tie for first on the individual leaderboard, as Seattle U's Rivekka Jumagulova, FIU's Millburn Ho and Hawai'i's Hyeonji Kang all posted 1-under-par 70s on Sunday.
 
The three-day, 54-hole event will continue on Monday at 9 a.m. MT/8 a.m. PT with the second round. The tournament will then close on Tuesday morning. Live scoring can be followed by visiting GolfStat.com.
